Tumor? Hemorrhoids?
Hello, doctor.
I have a few questions to ask you.
Around the end of November last year, when the weather was changing, I experienced some constipation issues.
Although I still had a bowel movement once a day, it became more difficult compared to before.
Around mid-December, I got my period, and during one bowel movement, I accidentally flushed the toilet without checking, and I noticed what seemed to be blood in the stool, mixed with it.
The color was bright red.
Strangely, I have only had blood in my stool twice since then, and both times coincided with my menstrual period, and I only noticed it through the unflushed remnants.
I'm unsure if this is due to my period or some other reason, which makes me a bit anxious.
By the end of December, I noticed that I was feeling a bit restless, and during bowel movements, I often felt something protruding, but it would return to its place after finishing.
Since then, I have had a persistent feeling of fullness in my rectum, and passing gas has become more difficult, requiring some effort.
Following my father's advice, I started rinsing with warm water after bowel movements, which helped somewhat, and the protrusion stopped, but I still have some sensations.
Recently, I feel like I have issues with gas; sometimes it's hard to pass gas, but at other times in the evening, it becomes very easy and frequent.
I have researched these symptoms online and found that some of them could be indicative of cancer, which frightens me.
I hope it's just something simple like hemorrhoids, but I still feel uneasy.
I would appreciate your insights.
Additionally, I have some bad habits: I used to have the habit of using my phone while in the bathroom, occasionally staying up late, and sitting for long periods.
Please help me with your answers.

Understanding the symptoms you are experiencing is crucial, especially when it comes to distinguishing between conditions like hemorrhoids and more serious issues such as tumors. Based on your description, it seems you have been experiencing a range of gastrointestinal symptoms, including constipation, bright red blood in your stool, a sensation of something protruding during bowel movements, and changes in your gas patterns.
Firstly, the presence of bright red blood in your stool, especially if it is only occasional and coincides with your menstrual cycle, may suggest a few possibilities. Hemorrhoids, which are swollen veins in the rectal area, can often cause bright red blood, particularly during bowel movements. This is usually due to straining or passing hard stools. The fact that you mentioned the blood was noticed when you saw unflushed stool could indicate that the blood is coming from a source near the anus, which is typical for hemorrhoids.
However, it is important to note that any instance of blood in the stool should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. While hemorrhoids are common and often benign, other conditions can also cause similar symptoms, including anal fissures, diverticular disease, or even more serious conditions like colorectal cancer. The age factor, family history, and duration of symptoms are all critical in assessing risk.
The sensation of a foreign body or something protruding during bowel movements, along with the feeling of pressure or fullness, could also be indicative of hemorrhoids or possibly rectal prolapse. The fact that these symptoms improved with warm water suggests that they may be related to inflammation or irritation in the anal region.
Your habits, such as prolonged sitting and using your phone while on the toilet, can contribute to constipation and straining, which can exacerbate hemorrhoids. It is advisable to adopt healthier bowel habits, including a high-fiber diet, adequate hydration, and regular physical activity, to promote regular bowel movements and reduce straining.
Regarding your concerns about cancer, while it is understandable to be anxious, it is essential to approach this with a clear mind. The symptoms you describe do not definitively indicate cancer, especially given your age and the nature of the symptoms. However, it is crucial to have a thorough evaluation by a healthcare provider. They may recommend a physical examination, and possibly a colonoscopy, to visualize the colon and rectum directly and rule out any serious conditions.
In summary, while your symptoms may suggest hemorrhoids or other benign conditions, the presence of blood in the stool warrants further investigation. It is essential to consult with a healthcare professional who can provide a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Early intervention is key in managing any gastrointestinal issues effectively, and addressing your lifestyle habits can also significantly improve your symptoms.
