Menstruation is one week late?

Hello, I started my menstrual period on February 7th last month.
My period was 3 days late and lasted for about a week, with some light bleeding on February 13th.
On February 13th, I had sexual intercourse with my boyfriend 2 to 3 times, using a condom during the process.
This month, my period was expected on March 5th, but as of now (March 14th), I still have not had any bleeding.
I am considering whether the longer duration of my period last month could be the reason for the delay, but it has already been a week late.
From late February to March, I generally go to bed around 3 AM and I do not feel any pregnancy symptoms such as poor appetite or excessive fatigue; my bowel movements are also normal.
I eat sushi almost every other day.
During this ovulation period, I noticed blood-tinged discharge, and a few days ago, I had some light yellow discharge.
From March 11th to 13th, I drank red date and longan tea for three consecutive days, hoping to induce my period, but there has been no effect so far.
However, I do feel the urge to have a bowel movement after drinking it.
I am unsure if I am pregnant.
If not, what could be the reason for my delayed period? How can I regulate my body to ensure my next period is on time? Thank you.

1.
There are many factors that can affect menstrual cycle irregularities.
A thorough evaluation including medical history, blood tests, and imaging studies is necessary to determine the underlying cause.
It is recommended to consult with a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology for assessment.

2.
For pregnancy concerns, please perform a home pregnancy test or consult with a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology for evaluation four weeks after sexual intercourse.

Understanding delayed menstruation can be a complex issue, as it can stem from a variety of factors, including hormonal imbalances, lifestyle changes, stress, and even underlying health conditions. In your case, it seems that you have experienced a delay in your menstrual cycle, which can understandably cause concern, especially considering your recent sexual activity.

Firstly, it’s important to note that a delay in menstruation can occur for several reasons. One common cause is stress or changes in your daily routine. You mentioned that you have been going to bed late, which can disrupt your body’s natural circadian rhythms and hormonal balance. Sleep is crucial for regulating hormones that control the menstrual cycle, and a lack of adequate rest can lead to irregularities.

Another factor to consider is your diet and overall health. You mentioned eating sushi regularly, which is generally healthy, but it’s essential to ensure that your diet is balanced and provides all necessary nutrients. A lack of certain vitamins and minerals can also affect your menstrual cycle. Additionally, significant weight fluctuations, whether loss or gain, can impact your hormones and lead to delayed periods.

Regarding your sexual activity, while using condoms significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy, no contraceptive method is 100% effective. If you are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, it may be wise to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are generally accurate if taken after a missed period, and they can provide peace of mind.

You mentioned experiencing some unusual discharge, such as blood-tinged cervical mucus and yellowish discharge. Changes in vaginal discharge can occur due to hormonal fluctuations, infections, or other factors. If you notice any unusual symptoms, such as a strong odor, itching, or discomfort, it would be advisable to consult a healthcare provider to rule out any infections or other medical conditions.

To help regulate your menstrual cycle and ensure that your next period arrives on time, consider the following suggestions:
1. Maintain a Regular Sleep Schedule: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night and try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. This can help regulate your hormones.

2. Manage Stress: Engage in stress-reducing activities such as yoga, meditation, or deep-breathing exercises. Finding healthy outlets for stress can positively impact your menstrual health.

3. Balanced Diet: Ensure you are consuming a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Consider incorporating foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish, and those rich in vitamins and minerals, like leafy greens and nuts.

4. Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is essential for overall health and can help with bodily functions, including menstruation.

5. Regular Exercise: Engage in regular physical activity, as exercise can help regulate your menstrual cycle. However, avoid excessive exercise, which can have the opposite effect.

6. Monitor Your Cycle: Keep track of your menstrual cycle, noting any irregularities. This information can be helpful if you decide to consult a healthcare provider.

If your period does not arrive within a few weeks, or if you experience severe symptoms, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough evaluation and determine if any underlying issues need to be addressed. Remember, it’s always better to seek medical advice when you have concerns about your health.
