Red spots on the glans?

Doctor, I recently noticed red spots on my glans, but they are not painful or itchy.
I've been working long hours, about 10 hours a day, doing delivery.
I'm not sure if this is caused by irritation, but since I don't feel uncomfortable, do I need to see a doctor?

Hello: Maintain cleanliness, avoid using soap or body wash for now, wash with clean water, and dry thoroughly.
Wear loose-fitting underwear.
If you have a foreskin, make sure to dry it after urination.
If there is no improvement, seek medical attention, as it may be a fungal infection.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to red spots on the glans (the head of the penis), it’s important to approach the situation with caution, even if there are no accompanying symptoms like pain or itching. While the absence of discomfort can be reassuring, there are several factors to consider before deciding whether to seek medical advice.

Firstly, the appearance of red spots can be attributed to various causes, some of which may require medical attention. Common benign causes include irritation from friction or moisture, especially if you have been wearing tight clothing or have been sweating excessively due to long hours of work, as you mentioned. This can lead to a condition known as "friction dermatitis," where the skin becomes irritated and may present as red spots or patches.

Another possibility is a fungal infection, such as candidiasis, which can manifest as red spots or patches on the glans. This is particularly common in individuals who may have increased moisture in the area, which can happen with prolonged periods of sweating or inadequate ventilation.
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) should also be considered, even if you are not experiencing other symptoms. Conditions like herpes or syphilis can present with red spots or lesions on the genital area. If there is any chance that you may have been exposed to an STI, it is crucial to seek medical evaluation.

In addition, allergic reactions to personal care products, soaps, or laundry detergents can also cause localized redness and irritation. If you have recently changed any products that come into contact with the genital area, this could be a contributing factor.

Given these possibilities, it is advisable to monitor the situation closely. If the red spots persist, change in appearance, or if you start to experience any discomfort, pain, or other symptoms (such as discharge or swelling), it would be prudent to consult a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough examination and determine the underlying cause of the red spots, as well as recommend appropriate treatment if necessary.

In summary, while the red spots on your glans may not currently be causing discomfort, it is essential to remain vigilant. Factors such as prolonged moisture, potential infections, or allergic reactions could be at play. If there are any changes or if you have concerns, seeking medical advice is the best course of action to ensure your health and peace of mind. Always prioritize your health and do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider when in doubt.
