Regarding my stomach issues?
Hello Doctor, I sometimes experience stomach pain.
Previously, I had a period of almost a week where I would wake up every morning with severe stomach pain.
Recently, the pain has been intermittent, occurring not only in the morning but also sometimes in the afternoon, and it can come on suddenly, like right now as I’m writing to you.
This has been going on for quite a while.
Sometimes, even after eating, I suddenly feel like I have low blood sugar, and my hands start to tremble.
I usually cope with this by overeating, but this symptom has occurred many times and has persisted for a long time.
Should I see a doctor about this, or am I just overreacting? Thank you!

More Info
It sounds like you're experiencing a range of concerning gastrointestinal symptoms that warrant further evaluation by a healthcare professional. Your description of intermittent stomach pain, particularly the episodes of severe pain upon waking and the sensation of low blood sugar accompanied by trembling, suggests that there may be underlying issues that need to be addressed.
Firstly, let's discuss the nature of your symptoms. Stomach pain can arise from various causes, including gastritis, peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or even functional gastrointestinal disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The fact that your pain occurs at different times of the day and sometimes correlates with eating could indicate a possible connection to your diet or stress levels. Stress is known to exacerbate gastrointestinal issues, and it can lead to increased stomach acid production, which may contribute to pain and discomfort.
The episodes of feeling like you have low blood sugar, characterized by trembling and the need to eat excessively, could be related to several factors. One possibility is that your body is reacting to fluctuations in blood sugar levels, which can occur if you are not eating regular meals or if your diet lacks balance. It’s also possible that your body is responding to stress or anxiety, which can affect your appetite and digestion.
Given that these symptoms have persisted for a significant period, it is advisable to seek medical advice. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough evaluation, which may include a physical examination, blood tests, and possibly imaging studies or an endoscopy, depending on their assessment. This will help rule out any serious conditions such as ulcers or other gastrointestinal diseases.
In the meantime, there are some self-management strategies you can consider. Keeping a food diary may help you identify any specific foods that trigger your symptoms. Eating smaller, more frequent meals instead of large ones can also help stabilize your blood sugar levels and reduce stomach discomfort. Additionally, managing stress through relaxation techniques, exercise, or counseling may improve your symptoms.
It's important to listen to your body and not dismiss these symptoms as trivial. Chronic stomach pain and episodes of feeling unwell can significantly impact your quality of life, and addressing them early can prevent potential complications. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to consult with a healthcare professional who can provide personalized advice and treatment options based on your specific situation.
