Probability of Pregnancy
Hello doctor, my girlfriend performed oral sex on me, and when I ejaculated, some of it accidentally dripped onto the inner thigh of her leg.
She was wearing very thin disposable underwear at the time.
I'm not sure if any of it came into contact with her during her shower afterward.
Is there a chance of her getting pregnant from this? What is the likelihood of pregnancy in this situation?

Oral sex, in general, does not lead to pregnancy, as it does not involve the direct transfer of sperm into the vagina. However, there are specific scenarios where the risk of pregnancy, albeit very low, could theoretically exist. In your case, where semen accidentally dripped onto your girlfriend's thigh while she was wearing thin underwear, the likelihood of pregnancy is extremely low.
To understand this better, let’s break down the mechanics of how pregnancy occurs. For pregnancy to happen, sperm must travel through the vaginal canal to fertilize an egg. This typically occurs during vaginal intercourse when sperm is ejaculated directly into the vagina. In your situation, even if some sperm were to come into contact with the vaginal area through the underwear, the chances of sperm successfully navigating through the fabric and into the vagina are minimal. Sperm are quite sensitive to environmental conditions; they require a specific medium to survive and swim effectively, and the fabric of underwear would not provide that.
Moreover, the thinness of the underwear further reduces the likelihood of sperm penetrating through to the vagina. Even if some sperm were to be present on the outer surface of the underwear, the chances of them being viable and capable of causing pregnancy are negligible. Additionally, washing or bathing afterward would further decrease any potential risk, as water and soap can wash away any residual sperm.
Regarding the question of whether oral sex can lead to pregnancy, it’s important to clarify that while oral sex itself does not pose a risk for pregnancy, it can carry other health risks, such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If either partner has an STI, there is a risk of transmission through oral sex, especially if there are cuts or sores in the mouth. Therefore, it is always advisable to practice safe sex, including the use of barriers like condoms or dental dams during oral sex, to reduce the risk of STIs.
In summary, based on the scenario you described, the risk of pregnancy is extremely low. The combination of the distance from the vagina, the barrier of the underwear, and the nature of sperm viability all contribute to this conclusion. If you have further concerns about pregnancy or sexual health, it may be beneficial to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice and information. They can provide guidance on safe sexual practices and address any other questions you may have regarding reproductive health.
