Post-operative issues after circumcision?

I underwent a circumcision on June 15, 2020, and it has been approximately 28 days since the procedure.
There are still two stitches remaining; is this a normal occurrence? How much longer will it take for them to completely dissolve? Additionally, during the third week post-surgery, I engaged in masturbation, but everything was normal with no bleeding.
Will this affect the healing of the wound? Thank you for your response.

Hello: Generally, there is no impact, but if the wound sutures have not dissolved after 2 weeks, it is recommended to return for removal.
Wishing you good health.

After undergoing a circumcision procedure, it's common to have concerns regarding healing time and the resumption of sexual activity. Based on your description, you are currently 28 days post-surgery, and you still have two stitches remaining. This is generally considered normal, as the healing process can vary from person to person. Typically, stitches used in circumcision are absorbable and may take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks to dissolve completely, depending on the type of material used and individual healing rates. If you are still experiencing discomfort or if the stitches have not shown signs of loosening or dissolving after a few more days, it would be advisable to consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation.

Regarding your question about engaging in masturbation three weeks post-surgery, it is generally recommended to avoid any sexual activity, including masturbation, for at least 4 to 6 weeks after circumcision to allow the area to heal properly. Engaging in sexual activity too soon can potentially lead to complications such as increased bleeding, infection, or delayed healing. However, if you did not experience any bleeding or pain during or after the activity, it is likely that you did not adversely affect the healing process. Still, it’s crucial to listen to your body and avoid any activities that cause discomfort.

As for the impact of circumcision on sexual activity and sensation, many men report varying experiences. Some may find that circumcision enhances sensitivity due to the exposure of the glans (head of the penis), while others may experience a decrease in sensitivity initially due to the healing process. Over time, many men adjust and report positive changes in their sexual experiences.

It's also worth noting that sexual activity can be influenced by psychological factors. Anxiety about performance or concerns about the healing process can affect arousal and erection quality. If you find that you are experiencing difficulties with sexual performance or have concerns about how circumcision may have impacted your sexual health, it may be beneficial to discuss these issues with a healthcare professional.

In summary, while it is normal to have stitches 28 days post-circumcision, it is essential to monitor the healing process and avoid sexual activities until you are fully healed. If you have any concerns about your recovery or sexual health, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for personalized advice and support. Remember, open communication with your partner about any concerns or discomfort can also enhance your sexual experiences moving forward.
