If semen or pre-ejaculate fluid dries on your fingers four days after menstruation, can massaging the clitoris lead to pregnancy?

Hello doctor, my girlfriend's last menstrual period started on June 29 and ended on July 3.
On July 7, I helped her with manual stimulation (my fingers may have had some pre-ejaculate or dried semen) and I touched her clitoris.
I would like to ask the doctor: 1.
Is there a chance of pregnancy from this? 2.
We had intimate contact on June 22 (which was around her ovulation period) and she took emergency contraception afterward.
She had bleeding on June 29 that was similar in volume to her menstrual period (as mentioned above).
I took her to a gynecologist for a pregnancy test on July 7, which was negative; then on July 14, about 22 days later, we tested again at noon, which was also negative.
Does this mean she is not pregnant? I apologize for asking these two questions, thank you, doctor! I am really worried!

Hello, it is unlikely that you are pregnant, but it is best to be cautious and use contraception.

When it comes to the question of whether touching after menstruation can lead to pregnancy, it's essential to understand the biological processes involved in conception and the timing of ovulation.
1. Can touching after menstruation lead to pregnancy?
In general, the likelihood of becoming pregnant from touching or manual stimulation (such as fingering) is extremely low, especially if there is no direct ejaculation into the vagina. Sperm must enter the vaginal canal and travel through the cervix to fertilize an egg, which typically occurs during ovulation. In your case, since your girlfriend's last menstrual period started on June 29 and ended on July 3, and you engaged in manual stimulation on July 7, this timing is crucial.
The average menstrual cycle is about 28 days, but it can vary significantly from person to person. Ovulation usually occurs around 14 days before the next period starts. If your girlfriend has a regular cycle, she would likely be ovulating around July 13, which means that the chances of pregnancy from the activity on July 7 are minimal, especially if there was no direct transfer of sperm.

2. Regarding the negative pregnancy tests:
You mentioned that you had intimate contact on June 22, which was during her ovulation period, and she took emergency contraception afterward. The bleeding she experienced on June 29 could be a withdrawal bleed from the emergency contraception, which is not the same as a regular menstrual period. The negative pregnancy tests on July 7 and July 14 further support the idea that she is not pregnant. Home pregnancy tests are quite accurate when used correctly, especially after a missed period.
The fact that you received two negative results indicates that it is highly unlikely she is pregnant. However, if there are still concerns or if her next period is late, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation.

Additional Considerations:
- Emergency Contraception: It’s important to note that emergency contraception can cause changes in the menstrual cycle, including earlier or later periods, and can lead to bleeding that may be mistaken for a regular period.

- Sperm Viability: Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to five days, but the chances of pregnancy from indirect contact (like touching) are very low unless sperm is directly deposited in the vagina.

- Communication and Protection: If you and your girlfriend are concerned about pregnancy, it may be beneficial to discuss contraceptive options that can provide more reliable protection in the future. This could include hormonal birth control, condoms, or other methods that suit your lifestyle and health needs.

In conclusion, based on the timing of your girlfriend's menstrual cycle, the nature of the contact, and the negative pregnancy tests, it is very unlikely that touching after menstruation would lead to pregnancy. However, if there are any lingering doubts or if her menstrual cycle does not return to normal, seeking advice from a healthcare professional would be the best course of action.
