Post-operative issues after laser hemorrhoid surgery?
Dr.
Ke, thank you for your response.
Following up on the previous question, the surgery I underwent was a newer laser ablation procedure (LHP), which resulted in a smaller incision.
Since I had some external hemorrhoids, the doctor also removed them.
I have attached a video for your reference: https://youtu.be/qavVkAizJQQ.
Currently, it has been a week since the bleeding point was re-stitched, and there has been no further bleeding, only a small amount of yellow-green discharge.
How long will it take for the wound to fully heal? I am very afraid of the wound reopening (the last time I bled, it was after I strained during a bowel movement and passed a large blood clot).
Now, I am basically afraid to strain during bowel movements.

The individual does not have experience performing laser ablation; however, based on the manufacturer's description, it appears that a laser catheter is inserted into the hemorrhoidal tissue to perform tissue coagulation.
The healing time for the sutured area depends on the type of sutures used, and some physicians may use non-absorbable sutures for closure.
These details should be discussed with the operating physician.
Generally, sutured wounds typically heal in about two weeks.

After undergoing laser hemorrhoid surgery, it is understandable to have concerns about healing time and the potential for complications. The laser hemorrhoid procedure, known as Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty (LHP), is a minimally invasive technique that typically results in less pain and quicker recovery compared to traditional hemorrhoid surgeries. However, every patient's healing process can vary based on individual factors such as age, overall health, and the extent of the procedure.
In your case, it is encouraging to hear that there has been no further bleeding after the first week post-surgery and that you are only experiencing some yellow-green discharge. This discharge is often a normal part of the healing process, as it may indicate that your body is clearing out any debris or dead tissue from the surgical site. However, it is essential to monitor the discharge for any signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, or a foul odor.
Typically, the healing time for laser hemorrhoid surgery can range from a few days to several weeks. Most patients can expect to see significant improvement within two to three weeks, but complete healing may take longer, especially if there were additional procedures performed, such as the excision of external hemorrhoids. It is crucial to follow your surgeon's post-operative care instructions, which may include dietary modifications, proper hygiene, and possibly the use of stool softeners to prevent straining during bowel movements.
Your concern about the wound bursting is valid, especially after experiencing bleeding due to straining during a bowel movement. To minimize the risk of this happening again, it is advisable to adopt a high-fiber diet to soften stools and maintain regular bowel movements. Staying hydrated and possibly using over-the-counter stool softeners can also help. If you feel the urge to push during a bowel movement, try to relax and allow your body to do the work without excessive straining.
If you experience any pain, increased bleeding, or other concerning symptoms, it is crucial to contact your healthcare provider immediately. They can assess your situation and determine if any further intervention is necessary.
In summary, while the healing process after laser hemorrhoid surgery is generally favorable, it is essential to remain vigilant about your symptoms and adhere to your doctor's recommendations. With proper care, you should see a gradual improvement in your condition, and the risk of complications can be minimized. If you have any further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for personalized advice and reassurance.
