Determining Paternity: Your Due Date and Conception Timeline - Obstetrics and Gynecology

I want to know whose child it is. Please help me solve the mystery?

Hello, I would like to ask about my current due date, which is on December 23.
When would the conception date be? I remember my last menstrual period was on March 10, but I'm not sure if it was actually my period (it usually comes around the 10th of every month quite regularly).
However, I was with my ex-boyfriend until the end of February, and we had our last sexual encounter on February 23.
I had my first sexual encounter with my current husband on March 14 because I was worried about possibly being pregnant with my ex-boyfriend's child.
I took a pregnancy test on March 8, which showed one line.
I tested again on March 30, and it still showed one line.
My period was overdue on April 10, and on April 14, I went to the gynecologist and tested positive with two lines, but the gestational sac was not visible.
On April 22, an ultrasound showed a measurement of 0.73 mm at 5 weeks.
I would like to know if this could possibly be my ex-boyfriend's child.
I have already consulted with a gynecologist, but I am still not at ease.
Please help me with this question.

1.
For pregnancy concerns, please take a home pregnancy test or consult a gynecologist four weeks after sexual intercourse.
2.
For paternity testing, you need to go to a paternity testing facility.
3.
Based on your account, unless you have very irregular menstrual cycles, it is unlikely that the child is from your ex-boyfriend.

More Info

To determine paternity and understand your due date and conception timeline, we need to analyze the information you've provided regarding your menstrual cycle and sexual activity.

1. Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation: You mentioned that your last menstrual period (LMP) was on March 10. If your cycles are typically regular, ovulation usually occurs about 14 days after the first day of your last period. Therefore, if we assume a typical 28-day cycle, ovulation would likely have occurred around March 24. This is the time when you would be most fertile and have the highest chance of conception.

2. Sexual Activity Timeline: You had sexual intercourse with your ex-boyfriend on February 23, which is before your last menstrual period. This encounter would not likely result in a pregnancy that would show up in your current timeline, as it is too far back from your expected ovulation. Your first sexual encounter with your current husband was on March 14, which is after your LMP but before your ovulation window.

3. Pregnancy Tests: You took a pregnancy test on March 8, which was negative. This is consistent with the timeline, as it was before your expected ovulation. A second test on March 30 was also negative, which further supports that you were not pregnant at that time. However, by April 10, when your period was overdue, you took another test that showed positive results. This indicates that conception likely occurred after March 30.

4. Ultrasound Findings: The ultrasound on April 22 showed a gestational sac measuring 5 weeks, which aligns with a conception date around March 24. This timing is consistent with ovulation occurring around that date, suggesting that the pregnancy is likely a result of the intercourse with your current husband on March 14.

5. Conclusion on Paternity: Given the timeline of your menstrual cycle, ovulation, and the dates of sexual intercourse, it is highly probable that your current husband is the father of the child. The negative pregnancy tests prior to April 10 further support this conclusion, as they indicate that you were not pregnant before that date.

6. Next Steps: If you still have concerns about paternity, the most definitive way to confirm would be through a paternity test after the baby is born. This can be done using a simple DNA test that compares the child's DNA with that of the potential fathers.

In summary, based on the information provided, it appears that your due date of December 23 aligns with a conception date that would most likely be attributed to your husband rather than your ex-boyfriend. If you have any further questions or need additional reassurance, consider discussing this with your healthcare provider for more personalized advice and support.
