Please consult regarding issues related to the glans penis?

Hello doctor, last week I visited a urologist because I noticed a small spot or wrinkle near the urethra on the glans after pulling back my foreskin while showering.
I was worried it might be a sexually transmitted infection.
After examining me, the doctor said it was nothing to worry about and that it was likely just a sebaceous secretion, advising me to relax and not be overly concerned since it’s generally not very noticeable.
I’ve noticed that sometimes when I shower, the water makes it less wrinkled and less obvious, but other times when it's dry, it appears again.
I would like to ask if it’s common to have comedones in that area, or should I not be too concerned about wanting a completely smooth appearance without any wrinkles?

When it comes to concerns about gland issues, particularly in the genital area, it's important to approach the situation with a clear understanding of what is normal and what might require further attention. Based on your description, it seems that you have been experiencing some anxiety regarding a small mark or wrinkle near the glans of your penis, which you initially feared might be indicative of a sexually transmitted infection (STI). However, after consulting with a urologist, you were reassured that this is likely just a normal anatomical variation, possibly related to sebaceous gland activity.

Sebaceous glands are small oil-producing glands located in the skin, including the genital area. They play a crucial role in maintaining skin health by secreting sebum, which helps to keep the skin moisturized and protected. It is not uncommon for these glands to become more noticeable at times, especially when the skin is dry or when the area is subjected to changes in temperature or moisture. The appearance of small bumps or wrinkles can be entirely normal and may vary depending on factors such as hydration, skin elasticity, and even hormonal fluctuations.

It's also worth noting that the skin in the genital area is sensitive and can react differently under various conditions. For instance, when the skin is dry, it may appear more wrinkled or have a different texture compared to when it is hydrated. This variability can lead to concerns about the presence of pimples or other abnormalities. However, unless there are accompanying symptoms such as pain, itching, or discharge, these changes are often benign.

If you are noticing occasional bumps or changes in texture, it is possible that these could be sebaceous cysts or other benign skin conditions. These are generally harmless and do not require treatment unless they become bothersome or infected. It is essential to maintain good hygiene in the area, but excessive scrubbing or harsh soaps can irritate the skin and exacerbate any concerns.

In terms of your worry about achieving a completely smooth appearance, it's important to remember that the skin is not uniform, and some natural variations are to be expected. If you find that your anxiety about this issue persists or worsens, it may be beneficial to speak with a healthcare provider who can offer reassurance and further evaluation if necessary.

In summary, while it is natural to have concerns about changes in your body, especially in sensitive areas, it is crucial to differentiate between normal anatomical variations and potential health issues. Based on your urologist's assessment, it seems that what you are experiencing is likely normal. However, if you have ongoing concerns or if any new symptoms arise, do not hesitate to seek further medical advice. Regular check-ups and open communication with your healthcare provider can help alleviate anxiety and ensure your overall health and well-being.

You should be happy, as it indicates that your response is normal. Those secretions are not semen; they are typical lubricating secretions that occur during arousal. As for the small white particles, they are likely pearly penile papules, which are harmless.
