Cauliflower transmission issues?
In July 2018, I accidentally used a towel that had been washed in a public washing machine after showering and then used it to wipe my intimate areas.
Recently, I learned that the mattress I slept on was provided by the landlord and may have been used by previous tenants (approximately three months since the last visitor).
I also slept naked without any clothing.
I would like to know if these are potential transmission routes for genital warts (condyloma) and if I could contract them from this situation.
As of now, I have received the nine-valent HPV vaccine, and my gynecological examinations have shown no abnormalities, with normal values.
Additionally, I had an HPV test in March 2020, which also showed no virus.
Can I rule out the possibility of infection and not worry about it?

Hello, you should not contract warts this way, so there is no need to worry.
Wishing you good health.

Cauliflower ear, medically known as auricular hematoma, is a condition that typically arises from trauma to the ear, leading to a collection of blood between the cartilage and the skin. This condition is most commonly associated with contact sports, such as wrestling or boxing, where repeated trauma can cause the ear to deform. However, your question pertains to the transmission risks of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), particularly HPV (human papillomavirus), which is unrelated to cauliflower ear but is a significant concern in gynecology.
The scenario you described, involving the use of a shared towel and sleeping on a mattress that may have been used by others, raises concerns about potential exposure to infections. However, it is essential to clarify that cauliflower ear itself is not an infectious disease and cannot be transmitted through shared items or surfaces. Instead, it is a physical injury that results from trauma.
Regarding HPV, it is primarily transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact, particularly during sexual activity. The fact that you have received the nine-valent HPV vaccine significantly reduces your risk of contracting HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer and genital warts. The vaccine is effective against several strains of HPV, including those most commonly associated with these conditions.
Your history of normal gynecological examinations and negative HPV tests further supports the notion that you are at a low risk for HPV infection. The absence of any lesions or abnormal findings during your check-ups is reassuring. It is also important to note that HPV can remain dormant in the body for years, and not all strains lead to visible symptoms or health issues.
In terms of your concerns about the potential for contracting HPV from shared towels or bedding, the risk is considered low. HPV is not typically spread through inanimate objects like towels or mattresses. The primary mode of transmission is through intimate contact, which includes vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Therefore, as long as you have not engaged in unprotected sexual activities with an infected partner, the likelihood of transmission through the scenarios you described is minimal.
To summarize, while cauliflower ear is not a concern in your situation, your worries about HPV transmission through shared items are understandable but largely unfounded. Given your vaccination status and negative HPV tests, you can feel reassured about your health. However, it is always advisable to maintain regular gynecological check-ups and discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider. They can provide personalized advice and further testing if necessary, ensuring that you remain informed and proactive about your sexual health.
