There is a continuous bleeding wound inside the nose?
It has been six months since I underwent functional nasal valve surgery at a hospital last year.
I have been experiencing persistent wounds in my nose along with bleeding and a feeling of congestion.
Wearing a mask exacerbates the sensation of congestion, and it seems that any movement of my nose intensifies this feeling, sometimes to the point where I feel unsteady on my feet.
During my follow-up visits, the doctor only mentioned that my airflow has increased and that I need to adapt.
I have already had two follow-up appointments.
At the first appointment, one month post-surgery, the doctor said my nose was not accustomed to the changes.
At the second appointment, three months later, the doctor suggested that I might not have adapted yet due to prolonged congestion, and I was advised to return for a third appointment in four months.
I was told to continue observing my symptoms.
However, I have been monitoring my condition for six months now and am unsure of what to do next.

It is advised not to constantly pick at wounds or blow your nose forcefully, as this will help the wounds heal.
Wishing you a safe visit to the otolaryngology clinic for your examination.

More Info
Persistent nosebleeds and discomfort following functional nasal surgery can be concerning and frustrating, especially when the symptoms linger for an extended period. Based on your description, it seems that you have been experiencing ongoing issues such as bleeding, a feeling of blockage, and discomfort, which have not improved despite multiple follow-up visits to your doctor. Here’s a comprehensive approach to understanding your situation and what steps you can take.
Understanding Your Symptoms
1. Nosebleeds: It's not uncommon for patients to experience some degree of bleeding after nasal surgery, particularly if there was significant manipulation of the nasal structures. However, persistent bleeding could indicate that the surgical site has not healed properly or that there is ongoing irritation or trauma to the area.
2. Nasal Congestion: The sensation of blockage or congestion can arise from several factors, including swelling of the nasal tissues, the presence of scar tissue, or even changes in the nasal anatomy post-surgery. If your doctor mentioned that the airflow has increased, it might suggest that the nasal passages are more open than before, but this does not necessarily correlate with comfort or functionality.
3. Discomfort and Dizziness: Feeling dizzy or unsteady can be linked to nasal congestion, as it can affect your overall sense of balance and well-being. If you are experiencing significant discomfort, it could also be a sign of underlying issues that need to be addressed.
Recommended Actions
1. Seek a Second Opinion: If your current physician has not provided satisfactory answers or solutions, it may be beneficial to seek a second opinion from another ENT specialist. They can offer a fresh perspective and may identify issues that were previously overlooked.
2. Communicate Clearly with Your Doctor: When you do visit your doctor, prepare a list of your symptoms, concerns, and any questions you have. This can help ensure that you cover all your points during the consultation. Be specific about how the symptoms affect your daily life and any changes you have noticed.
3. Consider Imaging Studies: If not already done, ask your doctor about the possibility of imaging studies, such as a CT scan of the sinuses. This can help visualize any structural issues, such as polyps, residual swelling, or other abnormalities that may be contributing to your symptoms.
4. Nasal Care: In the meantime, consider implementing a nasal saline irrigation routine to help keep the nasal passages moist and clear of debris. This can sometimes alleviate congestion and promote healing. However, avoid any aggressive nasal manipulation, as this can exacerbate bleeding and irritation.
5. Monitor for Other Symptoms: Keep an eye on any additional symptoms that may arise, such as fever, increased pain, or changes in the nature of the bleeding. If you notice any concerning changes, seek medical attention promptly.
6. Mental Health Consideration: Chronic health issues can take a toll on your mental well-being. If you find yourself feeling anxious or depressed due to your ongoing symptoms, consider speaking with a mental health professional. They can provide strategies to help manage anxiety and improve your overall outlook.
Conclusion
Persistent nosebleeds and discomfort after functional nasal surgery can be distressing, but it’s important to remember that you are not alone in this experience. Many patients face similar challenges, and there are steps you can take to address your concerns. Seeking a second opinion, ensuring clear communication with your healthcare provider, and taking proactive measures for nasal care can all contribute to improving your situation. Remember, your health and comfort are paramount, and advocating for yourself is a crucial part of the healing process.
