Is there a high chance of pregnancy if there was unprotected intercourse 10 days after a medical abortion?

On January 7, I received the first dose, and on January 9, I started bleeding, which lasted until around January 16 or 17.
On January 19, my husband ejaculated inside me, but in the following days, I noticed a little bit of brown discharge (or could it be menstrual blood?).
On January 23, I had a follow-up appointment where an ultrasound showed everything was clear, but there was still a bit of brown discharge during the pelvic exam.
On January 25, I used a pregnancy test, which showed two lines, one of which was very faint and appeared slowly.
I would like to ask: 1.
After my husband ejaculated inside me on January 19, is there a chance of pregnancy? 2.
Regarding the two lines on the pregnancy test on January 25, is this due to residual hormones, or could I be pregnant again? Thank you!

After a medication abortion, the possibility of becoming pregnant again is a common concern for many women. To address your questions, let's break down the situation based on the timeline and the medical context.

1. Can You Get Pregnant After Medication Abortion?
Yes, it is possible to become pregnant shortly after a medication abortion. The medication abortion process typically involves taking two different medications: mifepristone and misoprostol. After taking these medications, the body begins to expel the pregnancy tissue, and bleeding usually starts within a few days. Once the abortion process is complete, ovulation can occur as early as two weeks after the abortion. This means that if you have unprotected intercourse, such as the instance you mentioned on January 19, there is a possibility of becoming pregnant again.

2. Understanding the Bleeding and Pregnancy Test Results:
The bleeding you experienced after the abortion is a normal part of the process. The presence of brownish discharge or spotting can be common as the body continues to clear out any remaining tissue. However, if you notice any significant changes or have concerns about the bleeding, it is essential to consult your healthcare provider.

Regarding the pregnancy test on January 25, a faint line can indicate either residual pregnancy hormones (hCG) from the previous pregnancy or a new pregnancy. After a medication abortion, it can take some time for hCG levels to return to zero. Typically, it may take a few weeks for the hormone levels to drop significantly enough to show a negative pregnancy test. If the line is faint and slow to appear, it could suggest that you are still experiencing residual hormones from the previous pregnancy rather than a new pregnancy.

3. Next Steps:
- Follow-Up Appointment: Since you had a follow-up appointment on January 23, and the ultrasound indicated that everything was clear, it is a good sign that the abortion was successful. However, if you are still experiencing unusual bleeding or have concerns about the faint pregnancy test, it would be wise to schedule another follow-up appointment with your healthcare provider.

- Repeat Pregnancy Test: You may want to take another pregnancy test in a few days to see if the line becomes darker or if it disappears. If it remains faint or if you have any symptoms of concern (such as heavy bleeding, severe pain, or fever), seek medical attention promptly.

In summary, while it is possible to conceive shortly after a medication abortion, the faint line on your pregnancy test could be due to residual hormones. Monitoring your symptoms and following up with your healthcare provider will help clarify your situation. Always prioritize your health and well-being by consulting with a medical professional regarding any concerns you may have.
