Issues with the foreskin and frenulum?
Hello Doctor, I recently visited a urologist and was diagnosed with inflammation.
I applied medication and it has improved.
However, after the inflammation symptoms resolved, I feel that the frenulum has slightly shortened, and during masturbation, the foreskin can only retract to the coronal sulcus (there's a ring of foreskin that cannot flatten), and pushing it further causes pain, whereas before I could retract it completely.
Additionally, the foreskin appears red.
What could be the issue?

More Info
It sounds like you are experiencing some complications related to the frenulum and foreskin after your recent urological treatment. Based on your description, it appears that you may be dealing with a condition known as frenulum breve, which is a shortened frenulum that can restrict the movement of the foreskin. This can lead to discomfort during sexual activities, including masturbation, as you have noted.
The symptoms you are experiencing, such as the inability to retract the foreskin fully and the associated pain, could be due to several factors. After inflammation or infection, it is not uncommon for the tissues to undergo changes, including scarring or tightening, which may result in a shorter frenulum. The redness of the foreskin could indicate residual irritation or inflammation, which may need further evaluation.
Here are some important points to consider regarding your situation:
1. Frenulum Breve: This condition can cause discomfort during sexual activities. If the frenulum is too short, it may pull on the foreskin during retraction, leading to pain and difficulty. This can also contribute to tearing or further inflammation if not addressed.
2. Post-Inflammatory Changes: After an infection or inflammation, the skin can sometimes heal in a way that leads to scarring or tightening. This can affect the elasticity of the foreskin and the frenulum, making it more difficult to retract the foreskin fully.
3. Treatment Options: If the symptoms persist, it is advisable to consult with a urologist or a dermatologist specializing in genital health. They may recommend treatments such as topical corticosteroids to reduce inflammation and promote healing. In some cases, if the frenulum is significantly restricting movement, a minor surgical procedure called frenuloplasty may be considered to lengthen the frenulum and alleviate discomfort.
4. Hygiene and Care: Maintaining good hygiene is crucial, especially if there is any redness or irritation. Gently cleaning the area with mild soap and water can help prevent further irritation. Avoiding harsh soaps or irritants is also important.
5. Follow-Up: Since you have already seen a urologist, it is essential to follow up with them regarding your ongoing symptoms. They may want to perform a physical examination to assess the frenulum and foreskin and determine the best course of action.
6. Psychological Impact: It is also worth noting that changes in sexual function or comfort can have psychological effects. If you find that these issues are affecting your mental well-being or sexual relationships, discussing this with a healthcare provider can be beneficial.
In summary, your symptoms may be related to a shortened frenulum following inflammation, which can lead to discomfort during sexual activities. It is important to seek further evaluation from a healthcare professional to explore treatment options and ensure that there are no underlying issues that need to be addressed.
