I have an unexplained odor of feces coming from my buttocks?
Since early December last year, I had been holding in gas for a while, and then I realized it didn't feel right, so I stopped holding it in.
However, afterward, I started experiencing a strange symptom: I often feel a sensation of needing to pass gas or have a bowel movement, but it feels blocked (located in the lower abdomen), leading to abdominal pain, and this happens quite frequently.
The oddest part is that even though I haven't passed gas, there is a foul odor near my anus that resembles feces.
Although I only occasionally notice it, many people have commented that they can smell it, which is very strange.
I have a sensitivity to dairy products; just a small amount can make me feel the urge to have a bowel movement, so I generally avoid such foods.
Additionally, I wonder if it might be hereditary, as I seem to have some similar issues with hemorrhoids.
Sometimes, during the dry winter months or if I don't drink enough water, I experience a bit of pain during bowel movements due to friction around the anus.
While showering, I can feel small lumps near my anus, but I can't see them.
My bowel habits are relatively normal (once every 1-2 days), but I do drink a bit less water.
My father makes me carrot and vegetable juice once a week.
My brother previously sought advice from our parents about having particularly foul-smelling gas, and they assumed I was influenced by him, causing me to be overly anxious.
However, several classmates have also mentioned the smell, so it can't just be my imagination.
I hope a doctor can help me figure out what the issue is that causes this unexplained fecal odor near my anus.
P.S.
It seems that even when I walk, run, or sit, there is almost always a smell of feces emanating from me.
This has made me somewhat anxious, and I feel like I can only take shallow breaths instead of relaxing and breathing deeply.
Please, doctor, help me; I'm worried to the point of feeling like I'm going crazy.
Thank you for your patience in reading this.

It is likely not a colon issue; it may be due to excessive worry and concern.
As long as you pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene, it is sufficient to wash thoroughly with water after using the toilet (using a bidet) when necessary.

Unexplained foul odor, particularly when associated with gastrointestinal disturbances, can be a source of significant distress and concern. Your symptoms, which include a sensation of needing to pass gas or have a bowel movement but feeling blocked, along with the unusual odor emanating from the anal area, warrant a thorough evaluation.
Firstly, it is essential to understand that the gastrointestinal system is complex, and various factors can contribute to the symptoms you are experiencing. The sensation of needing to pass gas or stool but feeling obstructed may indicate issues such as constipation, intestinal gas buildup, or even conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). IBS is characterized by a combination of symptoms, including abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel habits, which can sometimes lead to foul-smelling gas.
The odor you describe, particularly if it resembles feces, could be related to several factors. One possibility is that it may be due to the fermentation of undigested food in the intestines, particularly if you have a sensitivity to certain foods, such as dairy products. When lactose is not properly digested, it can lead to increased gas production and changes in bowel habits, which may contribute to the foul odor. Additionally, if you have a history of constipation or infrequent bowel movements, this can lead to the buildup of stool in the intestines, which can also produce a strong odor.
Furthermore, the presence of hemorrhoids or anal fissures, as you mentioned, can lead to discomfort and may contribute to the sensation of blockage. Hemorrhoids can cause irritation and inflammation in the anal area, which might lead to changes in bowel habits and the perception of odor. It is important to maintain adequate hydration and dietary fiber intake to promote regular bowel movements and prevent constipation, which can exacerbate these issues.
Given your family history and the symptoms you are experiencing, it is advisable to consult a gastroenterologist for a comprehensive evaluation. They may recommend diagnostic tests such as a colonoscopy or imaging studies to rule out any underlying conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease or other gastrointestinal disorders. Additionally, they may suggest dietary modifications, such as reducing dairy intake or incorporating more fiber-rich foods, to help alleviate your symptoms.
In the meantime, practicing good bowel habits, such as regular hydration, a balanced diet, and not delaying bowel movements, can be beneficial. If you notice that certain foods trigger your symptoms, it may be helpful to keep a food diary to identify potential culprits.
Lastly, it is crucial to address any anxiety or stress related to your symptoms. Psychological factors can significantly impact gastrointestinal function, and managing stress through relaxation techniques, counseling, or support groups may also help alleviate your symptoms.
In conclusion, while your symptoms are concerning, they are not uncommon and can often be managed effectively with appropriate medical guidance and lifestyle modifications. Seeking professional help will provide you with the necessary support and treatment to address your gastrointestinal disturbances and improve your quality of life.
