Feelings after a cold?

Hello, doctor.
I had a slight cold previously and visited a pediatrician, taking medication twice.
Since I didn't feel unwell, I didn't return for a follow-up.
However, today while eating, I thought something was stuck in my throat and induced vomiting.
After that, my nose felt uncomfortable, and when I blew it, there was a bit of yellow mucus, but later it turned clear and watery.
Does this mean my cold isn't fully resolved, and should I go back for another consultation, or could there be something stuck in my nose? 😥 Additionally, while lying in bed and raising my legs, I suddenly heard a sound that I can't quite describe, which seemed to be related to my saliva.
Previously, I experienced a brief episode of tinnitus and was concerned about my hearing, so I visited an ENT specialist who said everything was normal.
However, regarding the tinnitus, the doctor just said not to worry.
I'm unsure if the sound I heard earlier is related to that or if I shouldn't be too concerned since my previous check-up was normal.
Thank you!

Based on the symptoms you described, it is likely that you have a cold complicated by otitis media.
I recommend getting plenty of rest, which should help improve your condition.
However, if symptoms persist or if you experience complications such as fever, ear pain, increased ear discharge, or changes in hearing, you may need to consult an otolaryngologist.
Thank you for your inquiry.

When experiencing post-cold symptoms, it can be confusing to determine whether to seek medical advice or not. Based on your description, it sounds like you are dealing with a few different issues that may or may not be related to your previous cold. Let's break down your symptoms and provide some guidance on when to seek medical attention.

Firstly, you mentioned that you had a mild cold and were treated by a pediatrician, after which you felt better. However, now you are experiencing nasal discomfort and have noticed some yellow mucus, which later turned clear. This could indicate a few things. Yellow mucus often suggests that your body is fighting an infection, possibly a lingering cold or a new one. The fact that it later turned clear could mean that your body is clearing out the infection, but it’s essential to monitor how you feel overall.

If you are experiencing persistent nasal discomfort, especially if it is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, facial pain, or swelling, it may be wise to consult a healthcare provider. These could be signs of a sinus infection, which sometimes occurs after a cold. Sinus infections can cause yellow or green nasal discharge, facial pressure, and sometimes a fever. If your symptoms worsen or do not improve within a few days, seeking medical advice would be advisable.

Regarding the sensation you described when you lifted your legs and heard a sound that you likened to saliva, this could be related to several factors. It might be a normal bodily sound, such as the movement of air or fluid in your throat or ears. However, if you are experiencing this sound frequently or if it is accompanied by other symptoms like dizziness or changes in hearing, it would be prudent to discuss this with your healthcare provider.
You also mentioned experiencing tinnitus (ear ringing) in the past, which was evaluated by an ENT specialist. Tinnitus can sometimes be benign, but if it becomes bothersome or is associated with other symptoms, it is worth revisiting your ENT for further evaluation.
In summary, here are some guidelines on when to seek medical advice based on your symptoms:
1. Persistent or Worsening Symptoms: If your nasal discomfort continues or worsens, especially with yellow or green mucus, fever, or facial pain, consult a healthcare provider.

2. New Symptoms: If you experience new symptoms such as significant ear ringing, dizziness, or changes in hearing, it’s essential to seek medical advice.

3. Duration of Symptoms: If your symptoms last longer than 10 days without improvement, it’s a good idea to see a doctor.

4. General Health Concerns: If you feel unusually fatigued, have difficulty breathing, or experience severe discomfort, do not hesitate to seek immediate medical attention.

In conclusion, while some post-cold symptoms can be benign and self-limiting, it’s crucial to listen to your body. If you feel that something is off or if your symptoms are concerning, it’s always better to err on the side of caution and consult a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough evaluation and determine the best course of action for your health.
