During a shower, I discovered a "single" black foreign object with an odor?

Hello, doctor.
I am currently on the fifth day of my menstrual period.
While taking a shower, I noticed a foreign object that looked like a small stone or a small piece of stool (mainly dark brown and light brown).
I felt no sensation when washing it away, so it shouldn't have been dislodged.
Throughout the day, I did not notice anything unusual while using the restroom.
It has an odor, and I cannot easily crush it with my fingertip or nail.
This is the first time I have experienced this situation, and I am quite worried and unable to sleep.
Could you please provide some clarification? Thank you.

Hello, Miss Li-Min: Based on your description, it is quite difficult to determine what the foreign object might be.
In the future, it would be best to take a photo of the object you discover or bring it directly to the doctor for a clearer assessment.
(It could be a stone in the urinary tract, a blood clot formed during menstruation, or a foreign object in the stool.)

More Info

Finding an unusual dark object during a bath can understandably cause concern, especially when it appears to be a foreign substance that you cannot easily identify. Based on your description, it seems like you encountered a small, hard object that is dark brown or light brown in color, and it has a distinct texture that does not easily break down when pressed.
There are several possibilities for what this object could be, and it's important to consider both dermatological and gastrointestinal factors.
1. Skin-related Issues: The object you found could potentially be a buildup of dead skin cells, which can sometimes clump together and appear as small, hard particles. This is particularly common in areas where skin is thicker or where there is friction, such as around the ankles or elbows. However, since you mentioned that it feels like a small stone or fecal matter, it may not be just dead skin.
2. Seborrheic Keratosis or Other Skin Lesions: Another possibility is that it could be a type of benign skin lesion, such as a seborrheic keratosis. These can sometimes appear dark and have a rough texture. They are generally harmless but can be concerning if they change in appearance or if new ones develop.

3. Gastrointestinal Issues: If the object is indeed related to your gastrointestinal system, it could be a small piece of undigested food or a stool fragment that has somehow adhered to your skin. This could happen if there was a lack of thorough cleaning after using the restroom. If this is the case, it is essential to maintain good hygiene practices to prevent any potential infections.

4. Hygiene and Care: Given that you are currently on your menstrual cycle, it is also possible that the object is related to menstrual discharge. Sometimes, menstrual blood can clot and form small, hard pieces that may not dissolve easily in water. If this is the case, it is usually not a cause for concern, but it is essential to monitor for any unusual changes in your menstrual flow or any accompanying symptoms such as pain or odor.

5. Infection or Other Health Concerns: If the object has an unusual odor or if you experience any discomfort, irritation, or changes in your skin or health, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional. Infections can sometimes present with unusual symptoms, and it is always better to err on the side of caution.

In conclusion, while the object you found could be benign, it is essential to monitor your body for any changes. If you continue to find similar objects, experience discomfort, or have any other concerning symptoms, it would be wise to seek medical advice. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough examination and provide a more accurate diagnosis based on your specific situation. Remember, maintaining good hygiene and being aware of your body’s changes are crucial for your overall health.
