Am I pregnant?

Hello doctor, my last menstrual period was from February 24 to March 23.
I had unprotected intercourse on March 13, March 20, and March 21.
On March 13, I experienced a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen.
Around March 17, I started to feel breast tenderness, and occasionally I had some lower abdominal pain, which felt similar to premenstrual symptoms.
On March 24, I woke up with breast tenderness and the lower abdominal pain had almost disappeared.
However, from March 24 to March 25, I started to feel increasingly uncomfortable in my stomach, making it difficult to sleep.
I had acid reflux and found it hard to fall asleep while lying down, and I only managed to sleep around 5 AM for two days.
On the night of March 24, I had a healthy meal, and since I was worried about not being able to sleep on March 25, I skipped dinner that night.
On March 25, even drinking water made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
Besides the acid reflux, my breasts started to feel a bit painful and swollen again, and I had some lower abdominal discomfort.
However, when I woke up in the morning, my breasts were no longer swollen, but there was some pain when pressed.
I was able to eat normally for lunch on both days, but I felt a bit bloated after eating.
My menstrual cycle is about 31 days long, lasting around 6 days.
On the morning of March 26, I measured my ear temperature at 37 degrees Celsius.
According to my period tracking app, my next period is expected on March 27.
However, since I feel like I might be pregnant, I took a pregnancy test on the morning of March 26, which showed one line.
Is it possible that I could be pregnant? If so, why did the test show one line on March 26? If my period does not come after March 27, when should I take another test?

Hello, the chances of pregnancy should be low.
Let's wait another week, and if your period still hasn't arrived, you can take a pregnancy test again or consult a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

More Info

Based on your detailed description of symptoms and the timing of your menstrual cycle, it seems you are experiencing a range of signs that could be associated with early pregnancy or premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Let's break down your situation and address your concerns regarding the possibility of pregnancy and the timing of testing.

Understanding Your Symptoms
1. Menstrual Cycle and Timing: You mentioned that your last menstrual period started on February 24 and typically lasts about 6 days, with a cycle length of approximately 31 days. Given this information, your next expected period would be around March 27. If you had unprotected intercourse on March 2, March 13, and March 20, there is a possibility of pregnancy, especially if ovulation occurred around the middle of your cycle.

2. Symptoms: The symptoms you describe, such as breast tenderness, abdominal pain, and gastrointestinal discomfort, can be indicative of both PMS and early pregnancy. Breast tenderness is a common symptom of both conditions, and abdominal discomfort can occur due to hormonal changes or implantation if pregnancy has occurred.

3. Testing for Pregnancy: You took a home pregnancy test on March 26, which showed a negative result (one line). Home pregnancy tests are generally reliable, but their accuracy can depend on several factors, including the timing of the test relative to your expected period and the sensitivity of the test itself. Testing too early, especially before a missed period, can lead to false negatives because the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) may not be at detectable levels yet.

Recommendations
1. Timing of Testing: Since your expected period is on March 27, it is advisable to wait until at least that date to take another pregnancy test. If your period does not arrive, testing a few days later (around March 30) would provide a more accurate result. This is because hCG levels double approximately every 48 hours in early pregnancy, making it more likely to be detected as time progresses.

2. Monitoring Symptoms: Keep track of your symptoms. If you experience any unusual or severe symptoms, such as heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain, or fainting, it is important to seek medical attention promptly.

3. Consulting a Healthcare Provider: If your period does not arrive and you continue to have symptoms suggestive of pregnancy, consider scheduling an appointment with a healthcare provider. They can perform a blood test, which is more sensitive than home tests, and provide you with further guidance based on your individual situation.

4. Lifestyle Considerations: While waiting for your period or test results, maintain a healthy lifestyle. Stay hydrated, eat balanced meals, and avoid excessive stress. If you are concerned about your symptoms or if they worsen, do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional.

Conclusion
In summary, while your symptoms may suggest the possibility of pregnancy, the negative test result indicates that it is too early to confirm. Wait until your expected period date to retest, and monitor your symptoms closely. If you have any concerns or if your symptoms change, consulting a healthcare provider is always a wise choice. Remember, every individual’s body responds differently, and only a medical professional can provide personalized advice and care.
