Questions after circumcision surgery?

Hello, doctor.
I have a few questions to ask:
1.
I had a complete circumcision, and now I am experiencing redness, swelling, and pain in the glans, along with a sensation of urinary leakage and slight pain while urinating.
Is this normal?
2.
The area around the incision is red and painful even with gentle touch.
Could this be an infection?
3.
Under what circumstances should I return for a follow-up appointment immediately?
4.
There is redness and even blackening around the frenulum, as shown in the attached images.
Is this normal? Day 3: https://ppt.cc/fgc6Nx Day 6: https://ppt.cc/ffZ0Gx https://ppt.cc/fZqtAx

Hello: 1) If you experience symptoms every time you urinate, you should return for a follow-up, as there may be other issues.
Additionally, make sure to drink water normally.
2) Post-surgery, it is common to experience swelling and pain, but it should gradually improve.
3) If there are any discharge, you must return for a follow-up.
For redness, swelling, heat, and pain at the wound site, monitor the severity; if it worsens, return for a follow-up.
4) If you are concerned, please return for a follow-up.
Bruising is usually due to some hematoma post-surgery, which will be absorbed.
Wishing you good health.

Post-circumcision concerns are quite common, and it's important to understand what is considered normal healing and what may indicate a complication. Here are answers to your questions based on medical knowledge and typical post-operative care guidelines.

1. Redness, Swelling, and Pain: After circumcision, it is normal to experience some redness, swelling, and mild pain around the glans (the head of the penis). This is part of the healing process. However, if the pain is severe or if you notice significant swelling, it could be a sign of infection or other complications. A slight burning sensation during urination can also occur due to irritation from the surgery, but if it persists or worsens, it should be evaluated by a healthcare provider.

2. Redness and Pain at the Incision Site: If the area around the incision is red and painful to touch, it could indicate an infection, especially if accompanied by other symptoms such as increased swelling, warmth, or discharge of pus. It's essential to monitor these symptoms closely. If the redness spreads or if you develop a fever, you should seek medical attention promptly.

3. When to Seek Help: You should return to your healthcare provider if you experience any of the following:
- Increasing pain that is not relieved by over-the-counter pain medications.

- Significant swelling or redness that worsens over time.

- Fever or chills, which may indicate an infection.

- Any unusual discharge from the surgical site, particularly if it is foul-smelling.

- Difficulty urinating or blood in the urine.

- Changes in the color of the skin around the surgical site, such as darkening or blackening, which could indicate necrosis or tissue death.

4. Darkening of the Frenulum: The frenulum (the band of tissue on the underside of the penis) may appear red or even darken after surgery due to bruising or irritation. However, if it appears black or necrotic, this is concerning and should be evaluated by a healthcare provider immediately. Tissue necrosis can occur due to compromised blood flow or infection, and timely intervention is crucial.

In summary, while some discomfort and changes in appearance are expected after circumcision, it is essential to monitor your symptoms closely. If you notice any signs of infection or significant changes in the surgical site, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management. Proper post-operative care is vital for a smooth recovery, and addressing any concerns early can help prevent complications.
