Dental floss, fixed dentures, bleeding?
Since I got my second molar crown, I have been using dental floss daily for a month and a half.
Initially, my gums bled everywhere, but now there is only one spot where I still see a faint trace of blood after flossing, which is in the gap between the crown on my second molar and my wisdom tooth.
Despite flossing for a month and a half, I still notice blood (0.5 cm, very faint).
Is this due to the crown not being placed correctly, inadequate cleaning before the crown was placed, or is it a normal phenomenon?
Additionally, I would like to ask about the dental crown that cost over 20,000 TWD.
When I asked the dentist if I could receive documentation regarding the material and manufacturer guarantee card (not a warranty card), the dentist said it was not available.
Is this normal? Do I have the right to request such documentation?

Hello: It is normal to experience bleeding when using dental floss during gum inflammation.
The causes of gum inflammation may be due to inadequate cleaning or poorly fitting dentures, which require further examination to determine.
Generally, there should be a warranty card for the denture material.
You may inquire again at the clinic to request one.

Bleeding gums after flossing, especially around dental implants, can be concerning for many patients. In your case, experiencing a slight amount of blood (described as very faint) after flossing between your second molar implant and your wisdom tooth is not uncommon, but it does warrant attention.
First, it’s essential to understand that bleeding gums can be a sign of gum inflammation or periodontal disease, which can occur even around dental implants. This inflammation may arise from plaque accumulation, improper cleaning techniques, or even the body’s response to the foreign material of the implant. Since you mentioned that you have been flossing regularly for a month and a half, it’s possible that the area is still healing or that there is some residual inflammation.
If the bleeding persists, it could indicate that the area is not being cleaned effectively, or there may be an underlying issue with the implant or surrounding gum tissue. It’s crucial to ensure that you are using proper flossing techniques, as aggressive flossing can sometimes cause trauma to the gums, leading to bleeding. Additionally, if there are any rough edges on the implant or surrounding teeth, they could be irritating the gums, contributing to the bleeding.
Regarding your question about the quality and warranty of the dental implant, it is reasonable to request documentation regarding the materials used in your dental work. Dental implants should come with a guarantee or warranty from the manufacturer, which typically includes information about the materials and their expected longevity. While not all dentists provide a specific "guarantee card," they should be able to offer some form of documentation or at least confirm the brand and type of implant used. If your dentist is unable to provide this information, it may be worth discussing further or seeking a second opinion from another dental professional.
In summary, while some bleeding after flossing can be normal, especially in the early stages of healing, persistent bleeding should be evaluated by your dentist. They can assess the health of your gums and the integrity of the implant. Additionally, do not hesitate to ask for documentation regarding the materials used in your dental work; it is your right as a patient to have this information for your records and peace of mind. Regular follow-ups with your dentist are essential to ensure that your dental implants and surrounding tissues remain healthy and free from complications.
