Difficulty urinating?
Hello doctor, I am currently 23 years old.
Previously, after ejaculation, I would always feel the urge to urinate, and my urination was normal.
Recently, after ejaculation, I have not felt the urge to urinate, but about 6 hours later, I felt the need to go to the bathroom.
However, when I got to the toilet, I felt like I couldn't urinate; the urge was there but I couldn't release it.
After waiting for about 2 minutes and applying some physical effort, I was able to slowly urinate a little.
Noticing something unusual, I quickly drank 200cc of water and waited for three hours, only to experience the same situation again.
When I tried to urinate, it took about 60 seconds to start flowing.

Hello: Insufficient water intake may be a cause.
It is recommended to consume at least 2500cc of fluids per day.
If you experience pain during urination or discomfort in the lower abdomen while urinating, you should seek medical attention for further evaluation, as there may be other underlying issues.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
It sounds like you're experiencing some significant urinary issues that can be quite distressing. Based on your description, there are a few potential factors at play that could be contributing to your symptoms. Let's break down your concerns and explore some possible explanations and recommendations.
Understanding Your Symptoms
1. Post-Ejaculation Urinary Urgency: It's not uncommon for men to feel the need to urinate after ejaculation. This is due to the physiological changes that occur during sexual arousal and ejaculation, which can stimulate the bladder. However, your experience of not feeling the urge to urinate immediately after ejaculation, followed by a delayed urge, is noteworthy.
2. Difficulty Urinating: The sensation of having a full bladder but being unable to urinate can be frustrating. This could be due to several reasons, including:
- Bladder Dysfunction: The bladder may not be contracting effectively, which can lead to a feeling of urgency without the ability to void.
- Urethral Stricture: A narrowing of the urethra can impede the flow of urine, making it difficult to urinate even when you feel the urge.
- Psychological Factors: Anxiety or stress can also play a role in urinary difficulties. If you feel pressure or anxiety about urinating, it may exacerbate the problem.
3. Waiting to Urinate: The fact that you have to wait for a prolonged period before being able to urinate, and that it requires some physical effort, suggests that there may be an underlying issue with your urinary tract or bladder function.
Recommendations
1. Hydration: Continue to stay well-hydrated, as this can help ensure that your bladder fills adequately and may assist in normalizing your urinary function.
2. Relaxation Techniques: If anxiety is a contributing factor, consider practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or mindfulness exercises before attempting to urinate. This can help reduce any psychological barriers to urination.
3. Pelvic Floor Exercises: Engaging in pelvic floor exercises, such as Kegel exercises, can strengthen the muscles involved in urination and may help improve your control over urination.
4. Avoiding Irritants: Certain foods and beverages can irritate the bladder, leading to increased urgency or difficulty urinating. Consider reducing caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods in your diet.
5. Medical Evaluation: Given the persistence and nature of your symptoms, it is crucial to consult a healthcare professional, preferably a urologist. They can conduct a thorough evaluation, which may include:
- Urinalysis: To check for signs of infection or other abnormalities.
- Ultrasound or Urodynamic Studies: To assess bladder function and rule out structural issues.
- Physical Examination: To check for any anatomical concerns.
Conclusion
Your urinary symptoms are not uncommon among young men, but they can be indicative of underlying issues that warrant further investigation. While lifestyle modifications and relaxation techniques may provide some relief, a thorough medical evaluation is essential to identify the root cause of your symptoms and to develop an appropriate treatment plan. Don't hesitate to seek medical advice, as early intervention can lead to better outcomes and improved quality of life.
