There is a lump on the skin above the base of the penis with a viscous discharge?

Hello doctor, last week I discovered a lump approximately 1.5 cm above the base of my penis, measuring 0.7 cm in diameter.
Initially, I thought it was a pimple and waited for it to resolve on its own.
However, two days ago, it suddenly grew to a size of 1.5 cm by 3 cm.
This morning, I noticed brown discharge and a lump formed in my pubic hair.
The lump is painful to touch, feels attached to the skin, is hard, and does not seem to be connected to the underlying tissue.
I would like to ask the doctor what this could possibly be and when I should seek medical attention.

It sounds like you are experiencing a concerning issue with a painful bump and discharge near the base of your penis. Based on your description, there are several potential causes for these symptoms, and it is important to approach this situation with caution.

Firstly, the bump you initially thought was a pimple could be a number of things. Given that it has grown significantly in size and is now associated with discharge, it may be indicative of an infection or an inflammatory condition. Some possibilities include:
1. Folliculitis: This is an infection of the hair follicles, which can cause red bumps that may be painful and can sometimes discharge pus. It is often caused by bacteria or fungi.

2. Sebaceous Cyst: These are non-cancerous lumps that can form under the skin. They are usually painless but can become inflamed or infected, leading to discomfort and discharge.

3. Abscess: If the bump is painful and has increased in size rapidly, it could be an abscess, which is a collection of pus that forms due to infection. Abscesses can be quite painful and may require drainage by a healthcare professional.

4. Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Certain STIs can cause lesions or bumps in the genital area. If you have had unprotected sexual contact, it is important to consider this possibility.

5. Other Dermatological Conditions: Conditions such as herpes or molluscum contagiosum can also present with bumps and discharge in the genital area.

Given that you are experiencing pain, a significant increase in size, and discharge, it is advisable to seek medical attention promptly. Observing the bump for a few more days may not be the best course of action, especially since it has already changed significantly in a short period.
When you see a healthcare provider, they will likely perform a physical examination and may ask about your medical history, sexual history, and any other symptoms you may be experiencing. They may also recommend tests, such as a swab of the discharge or imaging studies, to determine the exact nature of the bump.

In the meantime, here are some general recommendations:
- Avoid Manipulation: Do not squeeze or attempt to pop the bump, as this can worsen the infection or cause further irritation.

- Keep the Area Clean: Gently wash the area with mild soap and water, and avoid using harsh chemicals or irritants.

- Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have a clearer understanding of what the bump is, it may be wise to refrain from sexual activity to prevent potential transmission of an infection.

In conclusion, while there are several potential causes for the bump and discharge you are experiencing, the rapid change in size and the presence of pain and discharge warrant a visit to a healthcare professional. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent complications and ensure proper management of the condition.
