Vaginal bleeding / Menstrual issues
Hello doctor, I have been masturbating every day recently.
I make sure to maintain cleanliness and hygiene by washing my hands with soap and using alcohol to disinfect them before starting.
I also clean any related tools before and after each use, and I use water-based lubricant (since I have no sexual experience, I only stimulate the clitoris).
However, after finishing early this morning and cleaning up, I suddenly noticed that I was bleeding.
I feel fine otherwise.
I initially thought it might be my period, as my cycle is usually around 32 days, and today is about 3 days before that.
However, the amount is very small and does not resemble the usual first-day flow; it only left about 3-4 cm of blood on the pad.
After changing to a new pad, it also showed about 3-4 cm of blood.
Additionally, I noticed some brownish, semi-coagulated discharge a few days ago.
Could this bleeding be my period? Also, is masturbating once a day in the evening too frequent to the point of being harmful? Thank you for your response, doctor.

Hello, if it still hasn't stopped, it is advisable to see a gynecologist.
Be gentle during masturbation.
Wishing you good health.

Abnormal vaginal bleeding can be a source of concern for many women, especially when it occurs outside of the regular menstrual cycle. In your case, you mentioned experiencing light bleeding after masturbation, which is not uncommon and can have several potential causes.
Firstly, it is important to understand that the menstrual cycle can be influenced by various factors, including hormonal fluctuations, stress, and physical activity. The fact that you are experiencing light bleeding a few days before your expected period could suggest that it is either an early onset of your menstrual cycle or a sign of ovulation bleeding. Ovulation bleeding occurs in some women when the ovary releases an egg, and it can cause light spotting due to a temporary drop in estrogen levels. This type of bleeding is usually light and lasts for a short duration.
Another possibility is that the bleeding could be related to physical irritation or minor trauma to the vaginal walls or cervix during masturbation. Even with careful hygiene practices, the use of fingers or sex toys can sometimes cause slight abrasions, especially if there is insufficient lubrication or if the technique is too vigorous. The presence of brownish discharge you mentioned could also indicate old blood, which may be leftover from a previous menstrual cycle or from minor irritation.
Regarding your concern about the frequency of masturbation, it is generally considered a normal and healthy sexual activity when done in moderation. Masturbating once a day is typically not harmful, provided that it does not interfere with your daily life or cause physical discomfort. However, if you notice any persistent pain, discomfort, or unusual bleeding, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation.
In summary, the light bleeding you are experiencing could be due to several factors, including the onset of your menstrual cycle, ovulation bleeding, or minor irritation from masturbation. It is essential to monitor your symptoms and seek medical advice if the bleeding persists, increases in volume, or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms such as pain or unusual discharge. Keeping a record of your menstrual cycle and any changes in your body can also be helpful when discussing your concerns with a healthcare provider.
