Regarding missed menstruation?

I'm sorry to bother you, doctor.
My last menstrual period was on May 9, and it still hasn't arrived.
I had been taking oral contraceptive pills regularly for about six months but stopped in May.
Before I started taking the pills, I sometimes experienced delays of up to a month, but nothing this long.
I have been using protection during intercourse, either with the pill or condoms.
The last time I used only condoms without the pill was on June 19.
Since early June, I have been experiencing lower abdominal discomfort.
I haven't had any other symptoms such as loss of appetite, excessive sleepiness, or elevated basal body temperature.
However, I took a pregnancy test yesterday (July 3) and today (July 4), and both showed only one line.
I'm wondering what these symptoms could indicate and whether there is a possibility of pregnancy.

Delayed menstruation can be a source of concern for many women, especially when it deviates from their regular cycle. In your case, since your last menstrual period was on May 9 and you have not had a period since, it is understandable that you are feeling anxious. There are several potential causes for delayed menstruation, and it is important to consider each one carefully.

1. Hormonal Imbalance: After discontinuing hormonal contraceptives like birth control pills, your body may take some time to readjust and regulate its natural hormonal cycle. This adjustment period can lead to irregularities in your menstrual cycle, including delayed periods.

2. Pregnancy: Although you have been using protection, there is still a possibility of pregnancy, especially if the contraceptive methods were not used consistently or correctly. The fact that you have taken pregnancy tests and they have shown only one line (indicating a negative result) is reassuring, but it is important to note that testing too early can sometimes yield false negatives. If you suspect pregnancy, consider waiting a few days and testing again, or consult a healthcare provider for a blood test, which is more sensitive.

3. Stress and Lifestyle Factors: Stress can significantly impact your menstrual cycle. Emotional or physical stressors, changes in weight, exercise habits, or sleep patterns can all contribute to delayed menstruation. If you have experienced any significant changes in your life recently, this could be a contributing factor.

4. Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, or other hormonal imbalances, can lead to irregular or missed periods. If you have a history of such conditions or if your symptoms persist, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.

5. Other Symptoms: You mentioned experiencing lower abdominal discomfort but did not report other symptoms such as loss of appetite, excessive fatigue, or elevated basal body temperature. While abdominal pain can be associated with various conditions, it is essential to monitor it closely. If the pain worsens or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms, seek medical attention.

In summary, while there are several potential explanations for your delayed menstruation, the most prudent course of action is to consult with a healthcare provider. They can perform a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly additional tests, to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. In the meantime, try to manage stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle, as these factors can also influence your menstrual health. Remember, it is always better to seek professional advice when you have concerns about your reproductive health.
