Could this be prostatitis?
Hello doctor, a few days ago I had unprotected intercourse with my girlfriend.
She had seen a doctor the day before due to a suspected infection and used a suppository.
After feeling better, we had intercourse (the one I mentioned earlier).
The next day, when I went to the bathroom, I felt like I couldn't fully empty my bladder, and there was a slight difficulty in urination, but it wasn't painful, and I didn't have any other pain or symptoms in other areas.
This sensation has persisted until today.
Could this be prostatitis, or could there be other possible causes?

Hello: It is recommended to drink plenty of water.
If symptoms persist, you should seek medical attention, as it may be a urinary tract infection or prostatitis, which requires examination for confirmation.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing urinary symptoms following unprotected intercourse, which can be concerning. While I cannot provide a definitive diagnosis, I can offer some insights into what might be happening and the potential connection to prostatitis or other urinary issues.
Prostatitis, which is inflammation of the prostate gland, can manifest with a variety of symptoms, including urinary difficulties. These symptoms may include a feeling of incomplete bladder emptying, difficulty starting urination, and a sensation of urgency. However, prostatitis is typically accompanied by pain or discomfort in the pelvic area, lower abdomen, or during urination, which you mentioned is not present in your case.
The symptoms you describe—feeling like you have not completely emptied your bladder and experiencing a "stopping" sensation during urination—could be attributed to several factors:
1. Post-Intercourse Changes: After sexual activity, especially if it was vigorous or if there was a change in your routine, it is not uncommon to experience temporary urinary changes. This could be due to increased sensitivity or minor irritation of the urinary tract.
2. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): Given that your girlfriend had an infection and used a suppository, there is a possibility that you could have contracted a UTI, even if you are not experiencing typical symptoms like burning during urination. UTIs can sometimes present with vague symptoms, including a feeling of incomplete voiding.
3. Prostatitis: While your symptoms do not strongly indicate prostatitis, it is still a possibility. Prostatitis can sometimes present with mild urinary symptoms without significant pain. If the symptoms persist or worsen, it would be prudent to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
4. Psychological Factors: Anxiety or stress related to sexual activity or health concerns can also manifest as physical symptoms, including urinary changes. Sometimes, the mind can influence bodily sensations, leading to feelings of discomfort or urgency.
5. Other Causes: Other conditions, such as bladder irritation, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or even dietary factors (like caffeine or alcohol consumption) can contribute to urinary symptoms.
Given that your symptoms have persisted for a few days, it would be advisable to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough evaluation, which may include a urinalysis to check for signs of infection, and possibly a prostate examination if deemed necessary.
In the meantime, consider the following recommendations:
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help flush out your urinary system.
- Avoid Irritants: Limit caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods, as these can irritate the bladder.
- Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any changes in your symptoms, including the onset of pain or other discomforts.
In conclusion, while your symptoms may not strongly indicate prostatitis, they warrant further investigation to rule out any underlying issues. Consulting with a healthcare professional will provide you with the best course of action and peace of mind.
