The heart beats rapidly throughout the day, and this is more pronounced during sleep?

Hello doctor, I had an issue with ear stones that caused dizziness, but that has improved.
However, now my heart has started racing throughout the day, and it becomes more pronounced when I lie down.
I wake up every two hours while sleeping, which severely affects my sleep.
I can feel my heart racing all day long.
When I stand, I don't notice the rapid heartbeat as much, but when I lie down, it feels like my heart is about to jump out of my chest, which makes me very worried.
I'm not sure what the problem is.
If I make an appointment, which department should I see? Thank you, doctor.

Due to your young age and the absence of chronic diseases, your risk of developing heart disease is low.
Many factors in daily life can contribute to this situation, such as emotions, stress, irregular sleep patterns, or excessive consumption of caffeinated beverages.
It is advisable to adjust your lifestyle and engage in regular exercise.
However, if symptoms persist, it is still recommended to visit a hospital for an electrocardiogram (ECG) examination.

Experiencing a rapid heartbeat, especially when at rest, can be concerning and may indicate an underlying health issue. Given your symptoms of persistent palpitations, particularly when lying down, and the impact on your sleep, it is essential to take these symptoms seriously and seek medical attention.

Firstly, it's important to understand that a rapid heartbeat, or tachycardia, can have various causes. These may include anxiety, stress, hormonal changes, or even physical conditions such as arrhythmias, hyperthyroidism, or heart disease. In your case, since you mentioned a history of dizziness related to ear stones (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), it’s possible that the stress and anxiety from that experience could be contributing to your current symptoms. Anxiety can lead to increased heart rate and palpitations, especially in situations where you feel vulnerable, such as when lying down to sleep.

When you lie down, your body may be more aware of your heartbeat, and if you are anxious about your heart rate, this can create a cycle of worry that exacerbates the sensation of palpitations. Additionally, certain positions can affect blood flow and heart function, potentially leading to more pronounced sensations of your heartbeat.

Given the severity of your symptoms, particularly the impact on your sleep, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional. You should consider scheduling an appointment with a cardiologist, as they specialize in heart-related issues. During your visit, the doctor may perform several tests, including an electrocardiogram (EKG), echocardiogram, or even a Holter monitor to assess your heart's rhythm over a period of time. These tests can help identify any arrhythmias or other cardiac conditions that may be causing your symptoms.

In the meantime, there are several strategies you can employ to help manage your symptoms. Practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, or yoga may help reduce anxiety and, in turn, lower your heart rate. Additionally, maintaining a healthy lifestyle by engaging in regular physical activity, eating a balanced diet, and avoiding stimulants like caffeine and nicotine can also be beneficial.

If your symptoms worsen or if you experience additional symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or fainting, you should seek immediate medical attention. These could be signs of a more serious condition that requires prompt evaluation and treatment.

In summary, while experiencing a rapid heartbeat can be alarming, it is essential to approach the situation calmly and seek appropriate medical care. A cardiologist will be able to provide a thorough evaluation and guide you through the necessary steps to address your symptoms effectively. Remember, taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health, so don't hesitate to discuss any anxiety or stress you may be experiencing with your healthcare provider.
