The lower abdomen near the uterus is protruding?
Hello doctor, I had sexual intercourse on July 2, August 21, September 1, and September 2.
I had my menstrual period in both July and August, but in the past two weeks, I noticed a slight protrusion in my lower abdomen near the bladder and uterus (it feels somewhat firm), but it disappears when I lie down.
I have not experienced any other signs of pregnancy.
Could this be a sign of pregnancy?

When considering the possibility of pregnancy, it's essential to understand the various symptoms and signs that may indicate a change in your body. In your case, you mentioned experiencing a slight bump in the lower abdomen near the bladder and uterus, which becomes less noticeable when lying down. While this could be a sign of pregnancy, it is not definitive on its own.
Firstly, the presence of a bump or hardness in the lower abdomen can be attributed to several factors. In early pregnancy, hormonal changes can lead to bloating and changes in the abdominal wall, which might create a sensation of fullness or a slight protrusion. However, it is also possible that this bump could be related to other non-pregnancy-related factors, such as gastrointestinal issues, muscle tension, or even benign growths like fibroids or cysts.
Given that you have had menstrual periods in July and August, this could suggest that you are not pregnant, as a missed period is one of the most common early signs of pregnancy. However, some women may experience light bleeding or spotting even when they are pregnant, so it’s not an absolute indicator.
If you are experiencing any discomfort or unusual symptoms, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider. They can perform a physical examination and possibly recommend a pregnancy test or an ultrasound to determine if you are pregnant or if there are other underlying issues that need to be addressed.
In terms of other potential causes for the bump, conditions such as ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, or even issues related to the bladder can present with similar symptoms. These conditions are generally benign but can sometimes require monitoring or treatment, especially if they cause discomfort or other symptoms.
If you are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, taking a home pregnancy test can provide you with a quick answer. These tests are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. For the most accurate results, it is best to take the test after a missed period.
In summary, while the bump you are experiencing could potentially be related to pregnancy, it is not a definitive sign on its own, especially considering your recent menstrual cycles. If you have further concerns or if the bump persists or is accompanied by pain or other symptoms, seeking medical advice is the best course of action. Your healthcare provider can offer personalized insights based on a thorough evaluation of your symptoms and medical history.
