Acne
Hello, Dr.
Jiang! I started developing acne about two years ago and visited the dermatology department at National Taiwan University Hospital for seven months last year.
Although there was some improvement, my skin still hasn't returned to its previous condition.
Later, I had to stop treatment due to work in Hsinchu, but my acne wasn't too severe (for about nine months).
However, in the past few days, it has started to flare up again, and now I have a large area of redness.
Could you recommend a good hospital in Hsinchu City? Thank you!

Additionally, you can go to the Hsinchu City Hospital Dermatology Department and see Dr.

More Info
Acne is a common skin condition that can significantly affect one’s self-esteem and quality of life. It often arises during adolescence but can persist into adulthood. The treatment options for acne vary depending on the severity of the condition, the type of acne lesions (such as comedones, papules, pustules, or cysts), and individual skin types.
For effective acne treatment, there are several approaches that can be considered:
1. Topical Treatments: These are often the first line of defense against acne. Common topical medications include:
- Benzoyl Peroxide: This helps to reduce bacteria and inflammation.
- Salicylic Acid: This aids in unclogging pores and reducing swelling.
- Retinoids (e.g., Tretinoin): These are derived from Vitamin A and help to promote cell turnover, preventing clogged pores.
- Antibiotics (e.g., Clindamycin): These can reduce bacteria on the skin and decrease inflammation.
2. Oral Medications: For moderate to severe acne, oral medications may be necessary:
- Antibiotics (e.g., Doxycycline, Minocycline): These help to reduce bacteria and inflammation.
- Hormonal Treatments (e.g., Birth Control Pills): These can be effective for women whose acne is linked to hormonal fluctuations.
- Isotretinoin: This is a powerful medication used for severe acne that has not responded to other treatments. It requires careful monitoring due to potential side effects.
3. Procedural Treatments: In some cases, dermatologists may recommend procedures such as:
- Chemical Peels: These can help to exfoliate the skin and reduce acne lesions.
- Laser Therapy: Certain types of lasers can target acne-causing bacteria and reduce inflammation.
- Extraction: This involves the manual removal of comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) by a trained professional.
4. Lifestyle Modifications: Maintaining a proper skincare routine, avoiding harsh products, and managing stress can also help in controlling acne.
In terms of clinics in Hsinchu, there are several reputable dermatology clinics and hospitals where you can seek treatment for your acne. Some recommended places include:
- Hsinchu Mackay Memorial Hospital: Known for its dermatology department, they offer a range of treatments for skin conditions, including acne.
- National Taiwan University Hospital Hsinchu Branch: This hospital has a dermatology department with experienced specialists who can provide comprehensive care.
- Private Dermatology Clinics: There are numerous private clinics in Hsinchu that specialize in skin conditions. Look for clinics with good reviews and experienced dermatologists.
When seeking treatment, it’s essential to consult with a dermatologist who can assess your specific condition and recommend a tailored treatment plan. They can also provide guidance on the most effective products and treatments based on your skin type and the severity of your acne.
In conclusion, while acne can be a frustrating condition, there are numerous effective treatment options available. It’s crucial to seek professional help, especially if you notice a sudden increase in breakouts. With the right approach, you can achieve clearer skin and improve your overall well-being.
