Delayed menstruation?

I would like to ask, my last menstrual period was on September 28, and my next period has not arrived yet.
Usually, my period is only late by two to three days at most.
My last sexual intercourse was on October 11, November 1, and I took a pregnancy test yesterday, which came back negative.
I would like to know what could be the reason for this.

han, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2021/11/04

Hello, you should not be pregnant.
Wait for another week, and if your period still hasn't arrived, it is advisable to see a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

Delayed menstruation can be a source of concern for many individuals, especially when it deviates from their regular cycle. In your case, since your last menstrual period was on September 28, and you have experienced a delay beyond your typical two to three days, it is understandable that you are seeking answers.
There are several potential causes for delayed menstruation, and it is essential to consider various factors that could contribute to this situation:
1. Pregnancy: Although you mentioned that you had sexual intercourse on October 11 and November 1, and that pregnancy tests have returned negative, it is important to note that testing too early can sometimes lead to false negatives. If your period does not arrive soon, you might consider retesting after a few days or consulting a healthcare provider for a blood test, which can detect pregnancy earlier than home urine tests.

2. Stress: Psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, or significant life changes can impact your menstrual cycle. The body reacts to stress by altering hormone levels, which can lead to delayed ovulation and, consequently, a late period.

3. Weight Changes: Significant weight loss or gain can also affect your menstrual cycle. If you have experienced any changes in your weight recently, this could be a contributing factor.

4. Hormonal Imbalances: Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid disorders can lead to irregular menstrual cycles. Hormonal imbalances can disrupt the regularity of your periods, causing delays.

5. Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions, including diabetes or other endocrine disorders, can affect your menstrual cycle. If you have any underlying health issues, it may be worth discussing them with your healthcare provider.

6. Medications: If you are taking any medications, particularly hormonal contraceptives or other hormonal treatments, these can influence your menstrual cycle. Some medications can cause changes in the timing and flow of your periods.

7. Age and Menstrual Cycle Variability: If you are in your late teens or early twenties, it is not uncommon for menstrual cycles to be irregular, especially in the first few years after menarche. Similarly, if you are approaching perimenopause, hormonal fluctuations can lead to changes in your cycle.

Given that your last menstrual period was on September 28 and you have had negative pregnancy tests, it would be advisable to monitor your symptoms closely. If your period does not arrive within the next week or if you experience any unusual symptoms such as severe pain, heavy bleeding, or other concerning signs, it would be prudent to consult a healthcare provider. They can perform a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly additional tests, to determine the underlying cause of your delayed menstruation.

In summary, while there are several potential reasons for your delayed menstruation, including stress, hormonal imbalances, and pregnancy, it is essential to consider your overall health and any recent changes in your life. If the delay continues or if you have any concerns, seeking medical advice is the best course of action to ensure your health and well-being.
