Semen color
Hello, doctor.
At the end of June, I sought treatment for prostatitis due to the yellowish color of my semen, and I was treated for about two and a half months.
Before stopping the medication, I showed the doctor a sample of my semen, which I thought was slightly yellow, but the doctor said it was normal and that it was fine to stop the medication.
Since then, although my frequency of masturbation has decreased, my semen still appears slightly yellow (much lighter than when I had untreated prostatitis).
When I ejaculate, it looks white, but when it accumulates on tissue, it seems a bit yellow, and the tissue itself has a slight yellow tint.
I thought that if I increased my ejaculation frequency, the semen color would be relatively whiter, so after abstaining for five days, I masturbated for four consecutive days.
However, today, although it looks white during ejaculation, the accumulation still has a very light yellow tint, and the wet area on the tissue also appears slightly yellow.
Doctor, is the light yellow color of my semen concerning? Could it be a sign that my prostatitis has recurred? (Initially, the clinic doctor assessed my prostatitis based on the semen color, and later deemed my semen color normal, allowing me to stop the medication.
Now, my semen color is similar to what it was when I stopped the medication, so they would likely say I don't need treatment.) Or is it normal for semen to have a slight yellow tint, so when it accumulates, it naturally appears yellow? Is it also normal for the tissue to show a yellow tint? If it is a recurrence of prostatitis or not, I have no other discomfort besides the light yellow color of my semen; does this mean I don't need to worry about it? If prostatitis is untreated, is there a chance it could resolve on its own? Because I don't feel much discomfort.
Thank you, doctor.

More Info
Understanding the color of semen can be a source of concern for many individuals, especially when there are noticeable changes. In your case, you have observed that your semen has a slightly yellow tint, which has prompted you to seek clarification on whether this is a cause for concern, particularly in relation to your previous diagnosis of prostatitis.
Firstly, it’s important to understand that the normal color of semen can vary. Typically, healthy semen is a whitish-gray color, but it can have a yellowish tint due to several factors. The presence of a yellow hue in semen can be attributed to various reasons, including dietary factors, hydration levels, and even the frequency of ejaculation. For instance, consuming certain foods like carrots or taking supplements can impart a yellowish tint to semen. Additionally, dehydration can concentrate the semen, leading to a more pronounced color.
In your situation, you mentioned that after treatment for prostatitis, your semen color has improved but still retains a slight yellow hue. This is not uncommon. The fact that your doctor previously assessed your semen color as normal and decided to discontinue treatment suggests that the yellow tint you are experiencing is likely not indicative of a serious issue. It is also worth noting that the appearance of semen can change based on how long it has been since your last ejaculation. After a period of abstinence, the semen may appear whiter during ejaculation, but once it is deposited, it can take on a yellowish tint as it dries on a surface like tissue.
Regarding your concern about a potential recurrence of prostatitis, it is essential to consider the absence of other symptoms. If you are not experiencing pain, discomfort, or any other signs typically associated with prostatitis (such as burning during urination, frequent urination, or pelvic pain), it is less likely that you are experiencing a recurrence. Prostatitis can sometimes resolve on its own, but if symptoms do arise, it is crucial to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
In summary, a slight yellow tint in semen can be normal and may not necessarily indicate a health issue, especially if you are not experiencing any discomfort or other symptoms. However, if you have any lingering concerns or if you notice any changes in your symptoms, it is always advisable to consult with a healthcare provider for a thorough examination and personalized advice. Regular check-ups can help ensure that any potential issues are addressed promptly, providing peace of mind regarding your reproductive health.
