After laser eyebrow removal..?
Hello Dr.
Chen, I would like to ask you some questions regarding laser eyebrow removal.
1.
I had laser eyebrow removal done, and it is currently the fifth day.
Some of the scabs have fallen off, and the skin underneath appears pink.
Is this normal? If it is normal, how long will it take for the skin to return to its original color?
2.
Once all the scabs have fallen off, how long should I wait before applying makeup or drawing my eyebrows again?
Thank you for your help! ^__^

Dr. Chen Yiying reply Dermatology
Hello: In response to your question, I am unsure which type of laser you used for eyebrow tattoo removal.
1.
The skin where the scab has just fallen off may appear light pink, which is a normal phenomenon.
Depending on individual skin types, it should gradually return to a more natural skin tone within a few weeks.
2.
Once the scab has completely fallen off, theoretically, you can apply makeup, but you should still avoid excessive rubbing when removing makeup.

More Info
Hello! Thank you for your questions regarding laser eyebrow removal and the healing process. It's great that you're seeking information to ensure a smooth recovery. Let’s address your concerns one by one.
1. Healing Process and Skin Color: After undergoing laser eyebrow removal, it is quite common for the treated area to appear pink or red as the skin heals. This is a normal part of the healing process, indicating that your skin is regenerating. Typically, the pink color can last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on your skin type and how well you care for the area. Generally, you can expect the skin to return to its normal color within 2 to 4 weeks post-treatment. However, individual healing times can vary, so it’s essential to monitor your skin and consult your practitioner if you have any concerns.
2. Makeup Application: Once the scabs have completely fallen off, it’s crucial to allow your skin to fully heal before applying makeup. This is to prevent any irritation or infection. Generally, it is recommended to wait at least 1 to 2 weeks after the scabs have fallen off before applying makeup to the area. This timeframe allows the skin to recover and ensures that any redness or sensitivity has diminished. If you notice any lingering irritation or if the skin still appears sensitive, it might be wise to wait a bit longer.
Additional Tips for Healing:
- Avoid Picking: It’s essential not to pick at the scabs or the healing skin, as this can lead to scarring or infection.
- Moisturize: Keeping the area moisturized with a gentle, fragrance-free ointment can help promote healing and reduce discomfort.
- Sun Protection: Protecting the treated area from sun exposure is crucial. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen once the skin has healed enough to tolerate it, as UV exposure can lead to pigmentation changes.
- Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild cleanser to wash your face, avoiding any harsh scrubs or exfoliants until the area is fully healed.
When to Consult a Professional: If you notice any signs of infection (such as increased redness, swelling, pus, or severe pain), or if the healing process seems prolonged or abnormal, it’s important to reach out to your practitioner for advice.
In summary, the pink color you’re seeing is a normal part of the healing process after laser eyebrow removal, and you should expect your skin to return to its normal color within a few weeks. Wait at least 1 to 2 weeks after the scabs have fallen off before applying makeup to ensure proper healing. Always prioritize gentle care and protection for the treated area to achieve the best results. If you have any further questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider. Thank you for your inquiry, and I wish you a smooth recovery!
