Am I pregnant?
Hello doctor! My menstrual period was around January 9 to January 13, lasting about three days, with only a little bleeding on the fourth and fifth days.
I had sexual intercourse with ejaculation inside on January 19 to January 21.
A few days later, I started experiencing breast engorgement; initially, it was very full and my nipples were very sensitive and painful.
Then, on January 26, I had intercourse again with ejaculation inside.
My breasts are still swollen and painful, but not as sensitive as before.
I have been experiencing slight cramping on both sides of my lower abdomen.
I took pregnancy tests on January 27 and 29, but they were negative.
However, I have been experiencing breast engorgement for quite a while, and my lower abdomen continues to cramp.
I would like to know if I might be pregnant and what the likelihood of pregnancy is.

Hello, if you suspect you might be pregnant, it's advisable to wait until the expected date of your period to take a pregnancy test, which would be on February 8th.
Wishing you good health.

Determining whether you are pregnant can be a complex process, especially when you are experiencing symptoms that can overlap with premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Based on your description, you have had a regular menstrual cycle, with your last period occurring from January 9 to January 13. You engaged in unprotected intercourse on January 19-21 and again on January 26, which raises the possibility of pregnancy, especially since you mentioned that these were instances of internal ejaculation.
The symptoms you are experiencing, such as breast tenderness and sensitivity, abdominal cramping, and changes in breast fullness, can indeed be indicative of early pregnancy. However, these symptoms can also be attributed to PMS or hormonal fluctuations that occur in your menstrual cycle. It is important to note that breast tenderness is a common symptom both in early pregnancy and in the days leading up to menstruation.
You mentioned that you have taken pregnancy tests on January 27 and 29, and both tests returned negative results. Home pregnancy tests are generally reliable, but they can sometimes yield false negatives, especially if taken too early. The hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which is produced during pregnancy, may not be detectable in your urine until a few days after a missed period. Given that your period is expected around January 9-13, if you have not yet received your period, it may be worthwhile to wait a few more days and test again, ideally using the first morning urine for the most accurate results.
In terms of the likelihood of pregnancy, if you had unprotected intercourse during your fertile window (which typically occurs around ovulation, approximately 14 days before your next expected period), the chances of conception are higher. However, without a missed period or a positive pregnancy test, it is difficult to confirm pregnancy at this stage.
If your symptoms persist or worsen, or if you continue to experience abdominal pain, it would be advisable to consult a healthcare professional. They can provide a more thorough evaluation, including a blood test for hCG, which can detect pregnancy earlier than urine tests. Additionally, they can rule out other potential causes for your symptoms, such as ovarian cysts or other gynecological issues.
In summary, while your symptoms may suggest pregnancy, the negative test results indicate that it is still uncertain. It is recommended to wait a few more days and retest, and if you have any concerns about your symptoms or health, seeking medical advice is always a prudent choice. Remember, early pregnancy symptoms can vary widely among individuals, and the best way to confirm pregnancy is through testing and consultation with a healthcare provider.
