Does taking Teku Gastrol affect blood test results?

Hello, doctor.
Recently, during a gastroscopy, I was diagnosed with Grade B gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
The clinic physician prescribed me 30 mg of Tegoprazan to be taken once daily before bedtime for a duration of three months.
During this period of taking the medication, I underwent a company health check-up.
The tests included a complete blood count, urinalysis, liver function tests, kidney function tests, lipid profile, blood glucose levels, and cancer marker screenings (CEA, CA19-9, AFP, PSA).
I would like to ask if the use of the gastric medication will affect the test results and whether the test reports are still reliable.
Thank you for your clarification!

Taking Taik Gastric Medicine, which is commonly prescribed for conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), typically does not have a significant impact on the results of standard blood tests. This includes tests for liver function, kidney function, blood glucose, blood lipids, and cancer markers such as CEA, CA19-9, AFP, and PSA.
The primary active ingredients in many gastric medications, including those similar to Taik, are proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) or H2-receptor antagonists. These medications work by reducing stomach acid production, which can help alleviate symptoms of acid reflux and promote healing of the esophagus. While they are effective for managing gastrointestinal symptoms, they do not generally interfere with the biochemical processes measured in blood tests.

However, it is essential to consider a few points regarding the timing of medication and blood tests. For instance, if blood tests are performed shortly after taking the medication, there might be transient changes in certain parameters, such as electrolyte levels or pH balance, but these effects are usually minimal and not clinically significant. Moreover, the medications do not alter the fundamental markers that are typically assessed in routine blood tests.

In the context of your health check-up, the results of your blood tests should still be reliable and can be interpreted accurately by your healthcare provider. It is also worth noting that if you are undergoing specific tests that measure gastric function or acid levels, those might be influenced by your medication. However, for the tests you mentioned, such as liver and kidney function tests, blood glucose, and cancer markers, the influence of Taik Gastric Medicine is negligible.

If you have concerns about the accuracy of your test results or the potential impact of any medications you are taking, it is always a good idea to discuss these with your healthcare provider. They can provide personalized advice based on your medical history and the specific tests being conducted.
In summary, taking Taik Gastric Medicine should not affect the results of your blood tests significantly, and the reports you receive should still be valid for clinical interpretation. If you have any lingering doubts or specific symptoms that concern you, do not hesitate to reach out to your doctor for further clarification and guidance.
