Can Pre-Ejaculate Cause Pregnancy? Menstrual Irregularities - Obstetrics and Gynecology

Can pregnancy occur from prostate fluid? Menstrual issues?

My girlfriend's menstrual cycle has been irregular since we started dating.
This time, her period suddenly stopped on time.
We had sexual intercourse three days later (on February 20), but her periods are usually irregular, stopping for 7-10 days before returning.
After 12 days, we tested for pregnancy, and it was negative.
However, as of today (March 5), she still hasn't gotten her period.
We used protection during intercourse, but there was some pre-ejaculate fluid, which I wiped off before touching her.
Is there a chance of pregnancy? Is the delay in her period a sign of pregnancy? Additionally, I consulted a doctor who mentioned that her endometrium is thick, measuring 2.5.

Hello, the questioner: There is a possibility of pregnancy even if ejaculation has not occurred during intercourse, as pre-ejaculatory fluid may contain sperm.
It is recommended to check for pregnancy if your period is more than a week late.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health.

Pre-ejaculate, often referred to as pre-cum, is a fluid released by the male during sexual arousal before ejaculation. While it is primarily composed of seminal fluid and is meant to neutralize acidity in the urethra, it can contain sperm. The presence of sperm in pre-ejaculate is not guaranteed, but it is possible, especially if there has been a previous ejaculation without urination in between, as some sperm may remain in the urethra.

In your situation, it sounds like you and your girlfriend have been cautious, using protection during intercourse. However, the irregularity of her menstrual cycle adds a layer of complexity. Menstrual irregularities can be caused by various factors, including stress, hormonal imbalances, changes in weight, or underlying health conditions. Given that her cycle has been inconsistent, the absence of her period could be attributed to these factors rather than pregnancy.

You mentioned that she has not had her period for an extended period, which can be concerning. The fact that she took a pregnancy test and it came back negative is a good indicator that she is likely not pregnant, especially if it was taken after a missed period. However, it is important to note that pregnancy tests are most accurate when taken after a missed period, and false negatives can occur, particularly if the test is taken too early.

The observation from the doctor regarding her thickened endometrial lining (2.5 cm) could suggest that her body is preparing for a menstrual cycle, but it does not definitively indicate pregnancy. A thickened endometrial lining can occur due to hormonal changes, which may be a result of her irregular cycles.

If your girlfriend continues to experience a missed period or if her menstrual irregularities persist, it would be advisable for her to consult with a healthcare provider. They may recommend further evaluation to determine the underlying cause of her irregular cycles, which could include blood tests to check hormone levels or an ultrasound to assess her reproductive health.

In summary, while pre-ejaculate can potentially lead to pregnancy, the precautions you took and the negative pregnancy test suggest that pregnancy is unlikely. However, the irregularity of her menstrual cycle warrants further investigation to ensure her reproductive health is in order. It's essential to maintain open communication with her and support her in seeking medical advice if her symptoms continue.
