Testicular Bumps and Yellow Semen: Causes and Concerns - Urology

What disease is this?

I have recently noticed small bumps on my testicles that are very itchy.
I have never engaged in anal or sexual intercourse, and my semen has small yellowish particles in it.
I am unsure what this condition might be.

Long, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2003/07/27

That itchy area must be quite uncomfortable! It's the scrotum, not the testicles.
As for semen, it naturally has a jelly-like, light yellow appearance and will liquefy after about half an hour, so observe it closely! Regarding the itchiness, it could likely be eczema or a fungal infection, so please visit a urologist at the hospital for an evaluation!

More Info

When it comes to testicular bumps and changes in semen color, it’s important to approach the situation with a clear understanding of potential causes and concerns. Based on your description, you are experiencing itchy bumps on your testicles and yellowish particles in your semen. While I cannot provide a definitive diagnosis, I can outline some possible explanations and suggest appropriate actions.

Possible Causes of Testicular Bumps
1. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can occur in the genital area. It may present as small, itchy bumps and can be caused by irritation, infection, or ingrown hairs.

2. Sebaceous Cysts: These are non-cancerous lumps that can occur in the skin, including the scrotum. They are usually painless and filled with a fatty substance.

3. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, harmless bumps that can appear around the corona of the penis and may sometimes be mistaken for something concerning. They are a normal anatomical variation.

4. Infections: Conditions such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can cause bumps or lesions on the genital area. Even if you have not engaged in sexual activity, some infections can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact.

5. Allergic Reactions or Dermatitis: Irritation from soaps, laundry detergents, or other products can lead to itchy bumps on the skin.

Yellow Semen
The presence of yellowish particles in your semen can be attributed to several factors:
1. Semen Composition: Semen can naturally vary in color and consistency. Yellowish semen can sometimes be due to the presence of certain substances, including sperm and seminal fluid.

2. Dehydration: Inadequate hydration can lead to concentrated semen, which may appear more yellow.

3. Infection or Inflammation: Conditions such as prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) can lead to changes in semen color and consistency. This might be accompanied by other symptoms such as pain or discomfort.

4. Dietary Factors: Certain foods and supplements can affect the color of semen. For example, foods high in sulfur (like garlic and onions) can lead to changes in semen color.

When to Seek Medical Attention
Given your symptoms, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional, particularly a urologist. They can perform a physical examination, take a detailed medical history, and possibly conduct tests (such as a semen analysis or swabs) to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. Here are some specific reasons to seek medical attention:
- If the bumps are painful, growing, or changing in appearance.

- If you experience any unusual discharge from the penis.

- If you have any accompanying symptoms such as fever, chills, or persistent itching.

- If you notice any changes in urination or sexual function.

Conclusion
While the symptoms you describe may not necessarily indicate a serious condition, it is essential to have them evaluated by a medical professional. Early diagnosis and treatment can help address any underlying issues and alleviate your concerns. In the meantime, maintaining good hygiene, avoiding irritants, and staying hydrated can be beneficial. Remember, open communication with your healthcare provider is key to understanding and managing your health effectively.
