Masturbation issues?

Hello doctor, I am a second-year junior high school student.
I have recently noticed a decrease in the frequency of morning erections (I find that it doesn't happen when lying down, but does when sitting up).
Additionally, I am experiencing weakness in my bladder during urination (I used to be able to empty my bladder in one go), and I feel like I can't fully empty my bladder.
If I don't urinate before going to bed, I have trouble falling asleep.
I'm wondering if these issues could be related to my frequent masturbation (almost daily) over the past month.
Is there any way to improve this situation? (I am hesitant to seek medical help because I don't want my parents to know about my masturbation habits.)

Masturbation is a common behavior among teenagers and is generally considered a normal part of sexual development. However, concerns about its impact on urinary health, particularly in relation to the symptoms you've described, are valid and worth discussing.

Firstly, it’s important to understand that masturbation itself does not directly cause urinary issues such as reduced bladder control or incomplete urination. However, excessive or compulsive masturbation can lead to temporary physical changes or psychological stress that might affect your urinary health. For instance, if you are experiencing anxiety or guilt about your masturbation habits, this could lead to increased tension in your pelvic area, which might contribute to feelings of incomplete urination or difficulty fully emptying your bladder.

The symptoms you mentioned, such as decreased morning erections and the sensation of not fully emptying your bladder, could also be influenced by several factors unrelated to masturbation. These can include hormonal changes during puberty, stress, anxiety, or even lifestyle factors such as hydration levels and physical activity. It’s also worth noting that during adolescence, the body undergoes significant hormonal changes that can affect sexual function and urinary health.

If you find that you are experiencing these symptoms consistently, it may be beneficial to consider a few strategies to improve your urinary health:
1. Hydration: Ensure you are drinking enough water throughout the day. Proper hydration can help maintain urinary tract health and may alleviate some of the symptoms you are experiencing.

2. Regular Bathroom Breaks: Try to establish a routine for using the bathroom, rather than waiting until you feel an urgent need. This can help train your bladder and reduce feelings of urgency or incomplete voiding.

3. Pelvic Floor Exercises: Strengthening your pelvic floor muscles through exercises like Kegels can improve bladder control and overall urinary function. These exercises involve contracting and relaxing the muscles that control urination.

4. Stress Management: If anxiety or stress is a factor, consider engaging in relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or physical activity. Reducing stress can have a positive impact on both sexual and urinary health.

5. Limit Stimulants: Reducing the intake of caffeine and other stimulants can also help, as these can irritate the bladder and increase urgency.

6. Consult a Healthcare Professional: If your symptoms persist or worsen, it’s important to seek advice from a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough evaluation and address any underlying issues that may be contributing to your symptoms.

In summary, while masturbation is a normal part of adolescent development, it’s essential to consider the broader context of your health. The symptoms you are experiencing may not be directly caused by masturbation but could be influenced by a combination of factors. Taking proactive steps to manage your urinary health and seeking professional guidance when needed can help you feel more comfortable and confident in your body. Remember, open communication with a healthcare provider can provide you with the support and information you need to navigate these changes during your teenage years.
