There is severe pain on the left side between the vagina and the anus?
I have internal hemorrhoids, and recently I experienced severe pain and bleeding during a bowel movement.
This was the only instance of bleeding, but since then, I've had significant pain on the left side between the vagina and anus.
It hurts when I walk, lie down, and sit, and it also hurts when I exert myself.
I tried to feel the area, and it just feels swollen, but I didn't see anything unusual when I looked in the mirror.
What should I do, and what could be the cause?

Pain between the vagina and anus, often referred to as perineal pain, can be caused by a variety of factors, especially in the context of having a history of hemorrhoids. Given your description of experiencing pain after a bowel movement that resulted in bleeding, it is possible that the pain you are experiencing now could be related to several conditions.
Possible Causes of Perineal Pain:
1. Hemorrhoids: Since you mentioned having internal hemorrhoids, it is important to consider that they can cause discomfort and pain, especially after straining during bowel movements. Even if you have not seen any visible external hemorrhoids, internal hemorrhoids can still cause significant pain and discomfort.
2. Anal Fissures: A tear in the lining of the anus, known as an anal fissure, can occur after a painful bowel movement. This can lead to sharp pain during and after bowel movements, and it may also cause bleeding. The pain can persist even when not having a bowel movement.
3. Pelvic Floor Dysfunction: The muscles in the pelvic floor can become tense or dysfunctional, leading to pain in the perineal area. This can be exacerbated by straining during bowel movements or prolonged sitting.
4. Infections or Inflammation: Conditions such as vulvodynia, vaginitis, or infections in the anal area can also cause pain. Inflammation of the tissues can lead to discomfort that may feel like it is radiating between the vagina and anus.
5. Cysts or Abscesses: Occasionally, cysts or abscesses can form in the perineal area, which may not be visible but can cause swelling and pain.
Recommended Solutions:
1. Consult a Healthcare Provider: It is crucial to seek medical advice from a healthcare professional, such as a gynecologist or a colorectal specialist. They can perform a thorough examination to determine the exact cause of your pain.
2. Pain Management: Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, may help alleviate discomfort. However, consult your doctor before taking any medication, especially if you are on other medications.
3. Warm Sitz Baths: Taking warm baths can help soothe the area and reduce pain. Sitz baths, where you sit in a few inches of warm water, can be particularly beneficial for hemorrhoids and anal fissures.
4. Dietary Changes: To prevent further straining during bowel movements, consider increasing your fiber intake through fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Staying well-hydrated is also essential.
5. Topical Treatments: Over-the-counter creams or ointments designed for hemorrhoid relief may provide temporary relief from pain and discomfort.
6. Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy: If pelvic floor dysfunction is suspected, a physical therapist specializing in pelvic health can provide exercises and techniques to help relax and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.
7. Avoid Straining: When using the bathroom, try to avoid straining, as this can exacerbate pain and lead to further complications.
Conclusion:
The pain you are experiencing between the vagina and anus could be related to your history of hemorrhoids or other conditions such as anal fissures or pelvic floor dysfunction. It is essential to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan. In the meantime, managing pain with over-the-counter medications, warm baths, and dietary adjustments may provide some relief. Remember, early intervention can prevent further complications and improve your quality of life.
