There is a hard lump under the pubic hair?
Hello, Doctor.
I have a lump about 1.5 cm in size located under the pubic hair near the base of my penis (approximately 1 cm away).
It is the only lump, non-painful, elastic, and connected to the skin.
After shaving the hair, I noticed a very slight redness on the skin (possibly due to me squeezing it to feel its size).
This lump has been present for several years, and I recently felt it may be getting larger.
I would like to ask the doctor what condition this might be and whether I should go to a hospital or a clinic for treatment.
Thank you again for taking the time to respond, Doctor.

No lesions were observed, so it is difficult to determine the issue.
If it is causing significant distress, please visit a clinic for evaluation.

When it comes to understanding hard lumps under the pubic hair, particularly in the area near the base of the penis, it is important to approach the situation with caution and awareness of potential underlying conditions. Based on your description, you have a firm, elastic lump that is approximately 1.5 cm in size, has been present for several years, and has recently shown signs of growth. While it is reassuring that the lump is not painful and is only slightly red, it is still essential to consider a few possibilities and the appropriate steps to take.
Firstly, the lump could be a benign condition, such as a sebaceous cyst or a lipoma. Sebaceous cysts are common and occur when a hair follicle becomes blocked, leading to the accumulation of sebum (oil) beneath the skin. They are usually painless and can vary in size. Lipomas, on the other hand, are soft, fatty lumps that can develop under the skin and are also typically harmless. Both of these conditions are generally not a cause for concern unless they become painful, infected, or significantly increase in size.
However, given that you have noticed a change in size, it is prudent to seek medical advice. Changes in the characteristics of a lump, such as growth or changes in texture, can sometimes indicate a need for further evaluation. While many lumps are benign, there is a small possibility that they could be indicative of more serious conditions, such as a tumor or an infection.
In terms of where to seek medical advice, both a clinic and a hospital can provide the necessary evaluation. If you have a primary care physician or a urologist, starting with them would be a good option. They can perform a physical examination and may recommend imaging studies, such as an ultrasound, to better understand the nature of the lump. If necessary, they may refer you to a specialist for further evaluation.
It is also important to monitor any additional symptoms you may experience, such as pain, changes in urination, or any unusual discharge. These could provide further clues about the nature of the lump and help guide your healthcare provider in making a diagnosis.
In summary, while the lump you describe may be benign, the fact that it has changed in size warrants a medical evaluation. It is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to changes in your body. Seeking advice from a healthcare professional will provide you with peace of mind and ensure that any necessary treatment is initiated promptly. Remember, early detection and intervention are key in managing any potential health issues effectively.
