Pregnancy probability
Hello Doctor: A few days ago, while my girlfriend was sleeping (and I confirmed she was not awake), I touched her genital area and noticed that her vagina was filled with a milky white discharge.
Is this normal vaginal fluid or arousal fluid? I also have a clear discharge from my glans (prostatic fluid?), so before touching her, I washed my hands and went to the bathroom.
However, after washing my hands, I don't remember if I touched my glans again.
I am certain that my hands did not feel slippery before I touched her, and if I did touch it, it was very minimal, only at the junction where the skin color changes to pink, without touching the labia minora.
Additionally, the milky white discharge was only present inside the vagina and did not leak out.
Given this situation, is there a chance of pregnancy (my girlfriend has irregular periods)? If so, what would the likelihood be?
zero, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2022/06/11

When considering the chances of pregnancy, especially in the context of vaginal discharge and potential exposure to pre-ejaculatory fluid, it is essential to understand a few key aspects of human reproduction and the menstrual cycle.
First, the presence of a white, milky vaginal discharge can be normal. This type of discharge is often associated with the menstrual cycle, particularly during ovulation or in the luteal phase. It is typically a sign of healthy vaginal flora and can be influenced by hormonal changes. If your girlfriend is experiencing irregular periods (as you mentioned "乱经"), it may complicate the timing of ovulation, making it harder to predict fertile windows.
Regarding the potential for pregnancy from the scenario you described, several factors come into play. Pre-ejaculatory fluid, or pre-cum, can contain sperm, although the concentration is usually lower than in ejaculate. If there was any transfer of this fluid to your girlfriend's vaginal area, even if minimal, there is a theoretical risk of pregnancy. However, the likelihood of pregnancy occurring from such a situation is generally low, especially if there was no direct ejaculation and if the vaginal discharge was not mixed with sperm-rich fluid.
To quantify the risk, it is difficult to provide an exact percentage, as many variables affect the likelihood of conception. Factors include the timing of the menstrual cycle, the viability of sperm, and the overall reproductive health of both partners. If your girlfriend is not ovulating at the time of contact, the chances of pregnancy decrease significantly.
In terms of irregular menstrual cycles, they can be caused by various factors, including stress, hormonal imbalances, or underlying health conditions. If your girlfriend's cycle is irregular, it may be beneficial for her to consult with a healthcare provider to assess her reproductive health and understand her ovulation patterns better.
If there is concern about potential pregnancy, it is advisable for your girlfriend to take a home pregnancy test if her period is late. Additionally, if you are both sexually active, considering contraceptive methods can help manage the risk of unintended pregnancy in the future.
In summary, while there is a theoretical risk of pregnancy from the situation you described, the actual likelihood is likely low, especially if there was no direct ejaculation and the timing was not aligned with ovulation. Monitoring menstrual cycles and consulting with a healthcare provider can provide further clarity and guidance on reproductive health and family planning.
