Does excessive indulgence lead to feelings of soreness?
Hello, Director Du:
I have obsessive-compulsive disorder, and I basically masturbate every day, occasionally twice.
On Friday, I did it once, on Saturday twice, and on Sunday once.
On Monday, I couldn't resist and engaged in sexual activity, using a condom throughout (I changed the condom after oral sex).
However, during the second oral sex, the partner wanted to use the same condom from the first oral sex, but I said not to, so I believe there was no contact.
In total, there were two instances that day.
I also used disposable towels or tissue to wipe down below, and after finishing, I confirmed that the condom was filled with water.
After returning home, I suddenly felt a slight burning sensation at the urethral opening, and it seemed like some body wash might have gotten in while I was showering.
Today, I felt that sensation once or twice, but there were no abnormalities or discharge when I went to the bathroom.
1.
I would like to ask the doctor if this could be due to excessive indulgence causing some injury? (In the past, when I masturbated too much, I noticed slight redness and swelling at the tip when not erect, but I don’t have that now.)
2.
Is it possible that I have an infection?
3.
Or could it be related to having a family history of kidney stones? I had one incident about fifteen years ago, and I’m worried it might recur.
(Sometimes I feel lower back pain or a slight discomfort in the bladder.) I had my uric acid levels checked last time, and they were slightly elevated, and I am currently on medication.
Thank you for taking the time to serve the public.

Hello: 1.
I would like to ask the doctor if this could be due to excessive indulgence causing some injury? (In the past, when I engaged in excessive activities, I would notice slight redness and swelling at the tip of the penis when not erect, but now there is none) --> It's hard to determine; there could be various reasons.
2.
It shouldn't be an infection, right? --> Generally, with an infection, symptoms would persist.
3.
Or could it be because there is a genetic predisposition to kidney stones in my family? I had one occurrence about fifteen years ago, and I'm worried it might happen again.
(Sometimes I experience lower back pain or a dull ache in the bladder.) The last time I checked, my uric acid level was slightly elevated, and I am currently on medication.
--> You should see a doctor for a urine test, X-ray, or ultrasound.

More Info
Excessive masturbation can lead to various physical sensations and discomfort, including urethral discomfort. This discomfort may arise from several factors, including physical irritation, overuse, or even psychological factors related to compulsive behaviors, such as those associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
1. Physical Irritation: Frequent masturbation can cause irritation to the urethra and surrounding tissues. This irritation may manifest as a burning sensation or discomfort at the urethral opening. If you are engaging in masturbation multiple times a day, the friction and pressure can lead to temporary inflammation or soreness. Additionally, if lubrication is insufficient, this can exacerbate the irritation. It is essential to ensure adequate lubrication to minimize friction during masturbation.
2. Infection Concerns: While your symptoms may not indicate an infection, it is crucial to consider the possibility. Urethral discomfort can sometimes be a sign of a urinary tract infection (UTI) or sexually transmitted infection (STI), especially if there are accompanying symptoms such as unusual discharge, burning during urination, or increased frequency of urination. If you experience any of these symptoms, it would be advisable to consult a healthcare professional for appropriate testing and diagnosis.
3. Psychological Factors: Given your history of OCD, it is possible that your compulsive behaviors surrounding masturbation could contribute to your discomfort. Anxiety and stress can manifest physically, and the pressure to engage in these behaviors may lead to heightened sensitivity or discomfort. It might be beneficial to explore these feelings with a mental health professional who can provide strategies to manage your compulsive behaviors and reduce anxiety.
4. Genetic Factors: You mentioned a family history of kidney stones. While this is less likely to be directly related to urethral discomfort, it is essential to monitor any symptoms that may suggest a recurrence of kidney stones, such as severe pain in the lower back or sides, blood in urine, or significant changes in urination patterns. If you have concerns about kidney stones, it would be prudent to discuss this with your healthcare provider.
5. Recommendations: To alleviate discomfort, consider taking breaks from masturbation to allow your body to recover. Ensure you are using adequate lubrication and practicing gentle techniques. If discomfort persists or worsens, or if you develop additional symptoms, seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough evaluation, including urine tests, to rule out infections or other underlying conditions.
In conclusion, while excessive masturbation can lead to urethral discomfort, it is essential to consider other potential causes, including infections and psychological factors. Monitoring your symptoms and consulting with a healthcare professional can help ensure that you receive appropriate care and guidance.
