Vaginal bleeding after masturbation?

Hello doctor, I had sexual intercourse with my boyfriend on June 26, but the condom broke and there was no ejaculation inside.
I also consulted a doctor who said that it was during the safe period and that I wouldn’t get pregnant, so no medication was prescribed.
However, on July 2, after masturbating (without trimming my nails), I experienced bleeding.
Initially, I thought it was just a minor abrasion, but the amount of blood was similar to what I usually experience on the first day of my period (which is usually lighter).
Later, I found information indicating that the blood volume is typically not that much.
I would like to ask the doctor whether this indicates pregnancy or if it is just normal vaginal bleeding due to a tear.
Thank you for your attention, doctor.

If vaginal dryness increases the risk of tearing, please visit a gynecologist if there is persistent bleeding.

Vaginal bleeding after masturbation can be concerning, especially if it is unexpected or heavier than usual. In your case, there are several factors to consider regarding the potential causes of the bleeding and whether it could indicate pregnancy or another issue.

Firstly, it's important to note that bleeding after masturbation can occur for a variety of reasons. One common cause is trauma or irritation to the vaginal walls, which can happen if there is vigorous activity or if fingernails are not trimmed, as you mentioned. This can lead to small cuts or abrasions that may bleed, especially if the vaginal tissue is sensitive or if there is insufficient lubrication.

In your situation, since you experienced bleeding after masturbation and had a recent sexual encounter where the condom broke, it is understandable to be concerned about the possibility of pregnancy. However, since your doctor indicated that you were in a safe period and did not prescribe any emergency contraception, it suggests that the likelihood of pregnancy is low. The timing of your bleeding, occurring shortly after the sexual encounter, could also be coincidental and related to the irritation from masturbation rather than an indication of pregnancy.

The amount of bleeding you described—comparable to the first day of your menstrual period—can also be a factor to consider. While some women may experience light spotting after trauma, heavier bleeding could indicate a more significant injury or other underlying issues, such as hormonal fluctuations or an infection. If the bleeding persists, increases in volume, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, discomfort, or unusual discharge, it would be wise to seek medical attention for further evaluation.

Additionally, if you are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, consider taking a home pregnancy test. These tests are generally reliable and can provide peace of mind. If the test is positive, or if you continue to experience unusual bleeding, it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider for appropriate follow-up.

In summary, while vaginal bleeding after masturbation can be caused by minor trauma, it is crucial to monitor the situation. If the bleeding does not resolve or if you have any doubts about your health, do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for further advice and examination. Your health and well-being are paramount, and it is always better to err on the side of caution.
