Unsure if pregnant?

The last menstrual period was from June 15 to June 18.
There were three to four instances of condom-protected intercourse on June 26 and July 16.
The menstrual period has not arrived since then.
On July 20, before midnight, I drank two large mugs of water and conducted a test around 12:30 AM using a brand called Yinren.
At the five-minute mark, the second line was not very visible, but after ten minutes, there was a very faint line.
I'm unsure if this is due to a heightened sensitivity to color.
On July 21, around 8:40 AM, I used a Mentholatum brand test with the first morning urine, and it appeared there was no second line.
I'm wondering if moving during the waiting period could affect the results.
From July 4 to July 15, I experienced high levels of studying and staying up late, and now I'm feeling anxious about the possibility of being pregnant, which has led to insomnia; I only fell asleep around 4 AM on July 21.
I'm asking if this testing is accurate.

Understanding pregnancy testing can be quite complex, especially when anxiety and uncertainty are involved. Based on your timeline, it appears that you have had unprotected sexual encounters after your last menstrual period, which raises the possibility of pregnancy. However, the accuracy of home pregnancy tests (HPTs) and the timing of when you take them are crucial factors to consider.

Home pregnancy tests work by detecting the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine, which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. Generally, the best time to take a pregnancy test is after a missed period, as this allows for the hCG levels to rise sufficiently for detection. In your case, since your last menstrual period was from June 15 to June 18, and you have not had a period since, you are in a position to test for pregnancy.

Regarding the tests you conducted, the first test on July 20 showed a faint line after 10 minutes. It’s important to note that the interpretation of test results should be done within the time frame specified in the instructions. A faint line can indicate a positive result, but it may also be a sign of very early pregnancy or a potential error in testing. The second test on July 21 did not show a second line, which could suggest that you are not pregnant, but it’s also possible that the timing of the test was not optimal for detecting hCG.

As for your question about whether moving during the waiting period affects the results, the answer is no. The accuracy of the test is not influenced by movement. However, factors such as the concentration of your urine can impact the results. Testing with the first morning urine is generally recommended because it contains the highest concentration of hCG.

Your anxiety and lack of sleep can also play a significant role in how you perceive the situation. Stress can affect your menstrual cycle and overall hormonal balance, potentially leading to delayed periods. It’s common for individuals to experience heightened anxiety during this time, which can exacerbate feelings of uncertainty and lead to insomnia. This cycle of worry can make it difficult to focus on the results of your tests and can lead to second-guessing the outcomes.

If you continue to feel anxious about the possibility of pregnancy, it may be beneficial to consult with a healthcare provider. They can perform a blood test, which is more sensitive than a home pregnancy test and can provide a definitive answer. Additionally, discussing your anxiety with a professional can help you manage these feelings and provide strategies to cope with stress.

In summary, while home pregnancy tests can be reliable, their accuracy is influenced by timing and proper usage. If you suspect you might be pregnant, consider waiting a few days and testing again with the first morning urine for the most accurate result. If you remain uncertain or anxious, seeking medical advice can provide clarity and peace of mind. Remember, it’s important to take care of your mental health during this time, as stress can impact both your well-being and your menstrual cycle.
