Semen questions?
Hello doctor, I would like to ask if the color of semen on tissue appears less white due to visual factors? I perceive the color as grayish-white, but it seems to have a slight yellow tint when viewed with the naked eye.
In the past, during high school and college, I experienced varicocele and had pain in my left testicle, which now occurs very rarely.
During that time, the color of my semen often appeared noticeably yellow, and I didn't take good care of my hygiene, resulting in a strong odor.
There were also jelly-like particles in the semen, but the smell was similar to what I experience now.
Just before entering college, I suddenly had testicular pain, and the semen I ejaculated looked like yellow jelly, which scared me.
I wonder if this is related to the varicocele? I used to worry a lot and was afraid to talk about it, which caused me significant psychological stress for a long time.
I would also masturbate to observe the appearance, which might have created a vicious cycle.
However, I feel indifferent about it now; I just want to clarify things.
Regarding hygiene, I am currently able to clean myself well, which makes me very happy.
I also rarely encounter issues with the appearance of my glans, where sometimes the area around the meatus appears slightly red, and at other times, a part of the foreskin is red.
I have noticed this happens more often with weather changes, such as when it suddenly becomes humid or rainy.
However, it doesn't feel very hot, and it even feels a bit cool, but the humidity is higher.
I wonder if this is related? The link contains images of my current semen appearance (myself).

Hello: Everyone has some differences, and the same person may also have variations in different situations.
As long as there is no pain or bleeding, there is no need to worry.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to changes in semen color, it is important to understand that various factors can influence its appearance, and these changes can sometimes indicate underlying health issues. Semen typically appears as a whitish-gray fluid, but variations in color, such as yellow or grayish tones, can occur due to several reasons.
Firstly, the color of semen can be affected by dietary choices, hydration levels, and even the frequency of ejaculation. For instance, dehydration can lead to a more concentrated semen, which may appear darker or more yellowish. Additionally, certain foods, particularly those high in sulfur (like garlic and onions), can alter the odor and color of semen temporarily.
In your case, you mentioned experiencing a yellowish tint in your semen, particularly during a time when you had varicocele (enlarged veins in the scrotum). Varicocele can lead to discomfort and may affect semen quality, but it is not typically associated with a significant change in color. However, if there was an infection or inflammation present, such as epididymitis or prostatitis, this could potentially lead to changes in color and consistency, including the presence of a jelly-like substance.
The presence of a jelly-like consistency in semen can sometimes be normal, especially if it is a result of the seminal vesicles producing a thicker fluid. However, if you notice persistent changes in color, consistency, or odor, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional. These changes could indicate an infection or other medical conditions that may require treatment.
Regarding the psychological aspect you mentioned, it is common for individuals to experience anxiety related to their sexual health, especially after experiencing pain or discomfort. This anxiety can lead to a cycle of worry and self-monitoring, which may exacerbate the situation. It is crucial to address any psychological stressors, as they can impact overall well-being and sexual health.
As for the redness around the glans and changes in appearance due to weather conditions, this could be related to irritation or sensitivity, which can be exacerbated by humidity or friction. Maintaining proper hygiene is essential, but if you notice persistent redness or discomfort, it may be worth discussing with a healthcare provider to rule out any infections or skin conditions.
In summary, while variations in semen color can be influenced by numerous factors, persistent changes, especially those accompanied by discomfort or other symptoms, should be evaluated by a medical professional. Regular check-ups and open communication about any concerns can help alleviate anxiety and ensure that any potential health issues are addressed promptly.
