Pregnancy issues
Hello doctor, I would like to ask about my girlfriend.
Her period started on September 1st, and now it is September 13th.
I was wearing pants while she sat on me, facing away, to help me with masturbation.
When I ejaculated, I wasn't sure if it was mostly in my pants (I was worried some might have leaked out), but she said her thighs were wet afterward and she wasn't sure if any got to her vagina.
She wiped it off and even washed with water afterward.
I'm concerned about the possibility of pregnancy since there was no penetration.

When it comes to the question of whether you can get pregnant from dry humping, it's important to understand the mechanics of how pregnancy occurs. Pregnancy typically happens when sperm fertilizes an egg, which usually requires direct contact between sperm and the vaginal canal. In your case, since you mentioned that your girlfriend was wearing pants and there was no direct penetration, the risk of pregnancy is significantly lower. However, there are still some factors to consider.
1. Semen Transfer: If your girlfriend's thigh was wet with semen and there was any possibility of that semen coming into contact with her vaginal area, there is a very small chance of sperm traveling to the vagina. Sperm can survive outside the body for a short period, but they are not very mobile once exposed to air and other environmental factors. The likelihood of sperm making its way from the thigh to the vagina is extremely low, especially if she cleaned herself afterward.
2. Timing of Ovulation: Another crucial factor in determining the risk of pregnancy is the timing of ovulation. If your girlfriend's last menstrual period started on September 1, she would likely be ovulating around September 14-16, assuming a typical 28-day cycle. Since you mentioned that the encounter occurred on September 13, it is close to her ovulation window, which is when she would be most fertile. However, without direct sperm transfer, the chances remain low.
3. Contraceptive Measures: If you are concerned about the risk of pregnancy, it's always a good idea to use reliable contraceptive methods. Condoms are a great way to prevent both pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If you are not ready for a child, discussing contraceptive options with your partner is essential.
4. Emergency Contraception: If there is still concern about potential pregnancy, emergency contraception (like Plan B) can be taken within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. It works best when taken as soon as possible after the incident.
5. Monitoring for Symptoms: If your girlfriend misses her period or experiences unusual symptoms, it would be wise for her to take a pregnancy test. These tests are quite accurate and can provide peace of mind.
In conclusion, while the risk of pregnancy from dry humping is very low, it is not entirely impossible due to the potential for semen transfer. If you and your girlfriend are worried about unintended pregnancy, consider discussing contraceptive options and being proactive about sexual health. If there are any further concerns or questions, consulting with a healthcare provider can provide personalized advice and reassurance.
