I almost got caught by the train door?

Hello, today when I was out with my boyfriend, he hurriedly pulled me onto the train, and as I was walking in, the door almost closed on me and I felt a slight bump.
Although I don't feel any pain now, I'm wondering if I might have been injured.
When I got off, I noticed that the train doors had rubber seals, and my boyfriend said it's not that easy to get hurt.

Additionally, I remember seeing news abroad about people randomly stabbing others with needles, and I'm concerned if someone might have placed a real needle on the door.
Just now, I noticed a red spot on my arm, but I'm not sure what it is.
It could have been there before, as I was wearing a thin jacket and didn't feel any stabbing sensation, so I wonder if I should be overly worried about infection.
My boyfriend thinks I'm overthinking things, but he was the one who pulled me onto the train, causing the door to bump me.
I tend to worry a lot, so I hope the doctor can provide a professional perspective.
Thank you.

It sounds like you had a rather alarming experience with the train door incident, and it's completely understandable to have concerns about potential injuries or health risks following such an event. Let's break down your concerns and provide some clarity from a medical perspective.

Firstly, regarding the impact from the train door, if you felt a slight bump and are not experiencing any immediate pain, it is likely that you did not sustain a significant injury. Train doors are designed with safety features, such as rubber seals, to minimize the risk of injury during closing. However, even minor impacts can sometimes lead to bruising or soft tissue injuries that may not be immediately apparent. It's important to monitor the area for any changes, such as swelling, increased redness, or pain that develops over the next few days.

As for the red spot you noticed on your arm, it could be a variety of things, including a minor bruise from the impact, an insect bite, or even a skin irritation. If it does not worsen and you do not develop any additional symptoms, such as fever or spreading redness, it is likely nothing to worry about. However, if you notice any signs of infection (increased warmth, swelling, pus, or systemic symptoms like fever), you should seek medical attention.

Your concern about the possibility of being pricked by a needle is understandable, especially given the news stories about random acts of violence. However, if you did not feel any sharp pain or sensation at the time of the incident, it is unlikely that you were injured in that manner. The risk of contracting an infection from a needle stick is generally low if the needle is not visibly present and if you did not experience any immediate pain or bleeding.

In terms of your mental well-being, it's important to acknowledge that feeling anxious or worried after a stressful event is normal. If you find that your thoughts are excessively focused on potential injuries or health risks, it may be helpful to talk to someone about these feelings, whether it be a friend, family member, or mental health professional. Cognitive-behavioral strategies can also be effective in managing anxiety.

In summary, while it is wise to be cautious and observant of your body after any incident, the likelihood of serious injury from a minor bump against a train door is low. Keep an eye on the red spot on your arm, and if you have any concerns or if symptoms develop, do not hesitate to consult a healthcare professional. Lastly, try to engage in activities that help you relax and distract from anxious thoughts, as this can be beneficial for your overall mental health.
