Abdominal rigidity?
Hello Doctor: A few months ago, I visited the hospital due to diarrhea, and the doctor mentioned it might be due to excessive intestinal motility.
After taking medication, my condition improved.
About half a month later (on October 6th to 7th), I felt a hard lump about 1 to 2 cm in size in my left lower abdomen (near the waist).
It doesn't hurt when I press on it, and my bowel movements are normal, but I do feel some discomfort in my abdomen.
Should I get this checked? If so, which department should I visit? Thank you, Doctor.

When it comes to abdominal hardness, especially when you notice a lump or hard area in your abdomen, it is essential to take it seriously and seek medical advice. Given your description of a 1-2 cm hard area in your left lower abdomen that does not cause pain, it is still advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation.
The presence of a hard lump in the abdomen can be attributed to various causes, including benign conditions such as lipomas (fatty tumors), hernias, or even enlarged lymph nodes. However, it could also indicate more serious conditions such as tumors or other pathological changes in the abdominal organs. The fact that you previously experienced diarrhea and were treated for possible gastrointestinal issues adds another layer of complexity to your situation.
Since your bowel movements are normal and you are not experiencing pain, this may suggest that the lump is not immediately concerning. However, the sensation of abdominal fullness or heaviness ("悶悶的") can be indicative of underlying issues that may require further investigation.
In terms of which specialist to consult, you should consider visiting a gastroenterologist. This type of doctor specializes in the digestive system and can perform the necessary examinations, such as imaging studies (like an ultrasound or CT scan) or endoscopic procedures if needed, to determine the nature of the lump. If the gastroenterologist finds that the lump is related to a non-gastrointestinal issue, they may refer you to another specialist, such as a surgeon or an oncologist, depending on the findings.
Additionally, if you experience any new symptoms such as changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, persistent pain, or any other concerning signs, you should seek medical attention promptly. These could be indicators of a more serious condition that requires immediate intervention.
In summary, while the lump you have described may not be causing you pain or discomfort, it is prudent to have it evaluated by a gastroenterologist. They can provide a comprehensive assessment and guide you on the appropriate next steps based on their findings. Early detection and diagnosis are crucial in managing any potential health issues effectively.
