Doctor, I would like to ask you about something I've been experiencing recently.
Sometimes I feel a sudden strong heartbeat, but it's not a regular rhythm followed by a pause; it just feels like a strong beat that comes and goes.
It's not continuous, just occasionally I can feel this strong heartbeat.
I am an athlete, and during exercise, I don't experience any discomfort or physical symptoms.
However, I do have a congenital condition where my lower esophageal sphincter doesn't close properly, which leads to gastroesophageal reflux.
Sometimes I experience bloating.
I'm wondering if this could be related to my diaphragm pressing against something at that moment? For example, when I do weight training, like bench pressing, I can feel that strong heartbeat when I hold my breath and exert force.
Could this be related to the diaphragm? Last year, I had an electrocardiogram, and the doctor said everything was fine.
I can feel my heartbeat, but I would like to know what it means when I suddenly feel a strong heartbeat.
I usually go to bed around midnight to 1 AM and wake up around 5 or 6 AM.
