Can I get pregnant?

Hello Doctor, my menstrual period ended on November 4th.
The day after it ended, on November 6th, I had intercourse without a condom for about 5 to 8 minutes, and then I put on a condom but did not ejaculate.
Is there a chance I could be pregnant? Yesterday, on November 27th, I had intercourse twice, and after going out and returning home to shower, I noticed light brown discharge on my panty liner.
Later, before bed, I felt some bloating in my lower abdomen.
Does this mean my period is coming soon? My calendar currently predicts my period will start on November 29th.

Miss Lin, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2022/11/28

More Info

Based on the information provided, it seems you are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy after engaging in unprotected intercourse, followed by protected intercourse, and experiencing some unusual symptoms. Let's break down the situation and address your concerns.

First, regarding the timing of your menstrual cycle: you mentioned that your period ended on November 4, and you had unprotected intercourse on November 6. The average menstrual cycle lasts about 28 days, but cycles can vary from person to person. If your cycle is typically around 28-31 days, ovulation usually occurs about 14 days before your next period. In your case, if your next period is expected around November 29, ovulation would likely occur around November 15. This means that the unprotected intercourse on November 6 was relatively early in your cycle, and the chances of pregnancy from that encounter are lower, as it is generally outside the fertile window.

However, it is important to note that sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to five days. Therefore, if you were to ovulate earlier than expected, there is still a slight risk of pregnancy from that encounter. The subsequent protected intercourse, where you mentioned that there was no ejaculation, further reduces the risk of pregnancy.

Now, regarding the symptoms you are experiencing: the light brown discharge you noticed on your panty liner could be due to several factors. It might be a sign that your period is approaching, as some women experience spotting or light bleeding before their menstrual cycle begins. The sensation of bloating or discomfort in the lower abdomen can also be a common premenstrual symptom. Given that your calendar predicts your period to start on November 29, it is plausible that your body is preparing for menstruation.

If your period does not arrive as expected, it would be advisable to take a home pregnancy test for confirmation. These tests are generally accurate when taken after a missed period. If you have any further concerns or if your symptoms persist, consulting with a healthcare professional would be beneficial.

In summary, while there is a slight risk of pregnancy due to the unprotected intercourse, the likelihood is reduced by the timing in relation to your menstrual cycle and the subsequent protected intercourse. The symptoms you are experiencing may be related to your menstrual cycle rather than pregnancy. Monitoring your cycle and taking a pregnancy test if your period is late will provide you with more clarity. Remember, if you have ongoing concerns about sexual health or contraception, discussing these with a healthcare provider can help you make informed decisions moving forward.
