Is pregnancy possible?
Hello Doctor: On December 31st, I had sexual activity with my boyfriend.
He wore a condom and we only had external friction, with no penetration and no ejaculation.
After that, I helped him with manual stimulation, and then we both took a shower.
However, it seems that his hand may have come into contact with semen and then touched my genital area.
I'm wondering if this could lead to pregnancy.
My last menstrual period was on December 3rd, and I haven't gotten my period yet, which is making me a bit anxious.
I visited a gynecologist on January 7th, and when the doctor asked if I had sexual intercourse, I thought that since there was no penetration, it didn't count, so I said no.
As a result, there was no internal examination, and the doctor only prescribed me medication to induce menstruation.
How many days after taking the medication can I expect my period to come? Is there a possibility that I could be pregnant? I'm quite worried.

Hello! It is recommended to practice safe sex to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections, as well as to prevent unintended pregnancies.
Please monitor your menstrual cycle, and if there is a delay, you can take a home pregnancy test or visit a gynecologist for confirmation.
Thank you.

When it comes to the question of whether you can get pregnant from non-penetrative sex, it's important to understand the mechanics of conception and the various factors that contribute to pregnancy risk. In your case, you mentioned engaging in sexual activity with your boyfriend on December 31, where he wore a condom during external genital contact, and there was no ejaculation. However, you are concerned because he may have touched his penis and then touched your vulva afterward.
To address your primary concern: the likelihood of pregnancy from the scenario you described is quite low. Pregnancy typically occurs when sperm from a male fertilizes an egg from a female, which usually happens through vaginal intercourse. In your case, since there was no penetration and no ejaculation, the risk of sperm reaching the vaginal canal is minimal. However, it is theoretically possible for sperm to be transferred from the hands to the vulva, but this is considered a very low risk, especially if the male did not ejaculate.
Regarding your menstrual cycle, you mentioned that your last period started on December 3, and you are now experiencing a delay. It's important to note that menstrual cycles can be influenced by various factors, including stress, hormonal changes, and even changes in routine. If you are concerned about a potential pregnancy, it is advisable to take a home pregnancy test if your period does not arrive soon. These tests are generally accurate if taken after a missed period.
You also mentioned visiting a gynecologist on January 7, where the doctor prescribed medication to induce menstruation. The time it takes for your period to return after taking such medication can vary, but it usually occurs within a few days to a week after completing the course. If you have taken the medication as prescribed, you should expect your period to arrive shortly.
In summary, while the risk of pregnancy from non-penetrative sex is low, it is not entirely absent. If you are feeling anxious about the possibility of being pregnant, taking a home pregnancy test can provide clarity. Additionally, if your period does not come after taking the medication, or if you have any other concerns, it is important to follow up with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance.
In the future, if you wish to reduce the risk of unintended pregnancy during any sexual activity, consider using reliable contraception methods. Condoms are a good option as they not only help prevent pregnancy but also protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If you have any further questions or concerns about sexual health, contraception, or menstrual irregularities, do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
