Large red spots on the inner thigh, tibia, and inner calf?
Initially, I noticed red spots on the inner side of my right thigh near the groin, about the size of a palm.
The red spots were scattered.
After two to three days, the spots changed to a large area of red dots on the front of my right calf and the entire calf (with no spots on the outer side), and there were only a few barely noticeable spots on the left side.
I'm a bit worried and unable to see a doctor at the moment, so I would like to ask what this symptom might indicate.

I'm sorry, but without actually seeing the lesion, it's difficult to make a judgment.
If you are unable to seek medical attention at the moment, you can take a photo of the lesion with your phone and share it with your physician for reference.

More Info
When it comes to red spots on the inner thigh and shin, there are several potential skin conditions that could be responsible for your symptoms. Given the description of your condition, it is essential to consider various factors, including the appearance, duration, and any accompanying symptoms such as itching, pain, or swelling. Here are some possible explanations for the red spots you are experiencing:
1. Allergic Reactions: Allergic contact dermatitis can occur when your skin comes into contact with an allergen, such as certain fabrics, soaps, or lotions. This condition often presents as red, itchy spots and can spread if the allergen is not identified and avoided.
2. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can be caused by bacteria, fungi, or irritation from shaving or friction. Folliculitis typically appears as small red bumps or spots and may be itchy or painful.
3. Eczema: Atopic dermatitis, commonly known as eczema, can cause red, inflamed patches of skin that may be itchy and can appear anywhere on the body, including the thighs and shins. Eczema can be triggered by various factors, including stress, allergens, and changes in temperature or humidity.
4. Psoriasis: This chronic autoimmune condition can lead to the development of red, scaly patches on the skin. While it often affects the elbows and knees, it can also appear on the thighs and shins. Psoriasis may be itchy and can vary in severity.
5. Vascular Issues: Conditions such as petechiae or purpura can cause small red or purple spots on the skin due to bleeding under the skin. These can be caused by various factors, including trauma, certain medications, or underlying health conditions.
6. Infections: Bacterial or viral infections can lead to localized redness and swelling. Conditions like cellulitis, which is a bacterial skin infection, may present with red, swollen areas that can spread rapidly and require medical attention.
7. Heat Rash: If you have been sweating excessively or exposed to hot, humid conditions, you might develop a heat rash, which can appear as red spots or bumps on the skin.
Given the variety of potential causes, it is crucial to monitor your symptoms closely. If the red spots persist, worsen, or are accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, increased pain, or swelling, it is advisable to seek medical attention as soon as possible. A healthcare professional can provide a proper diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment based on the specific condition.
In the meantime, here are some general tips to help manage your symptoms:
- Avoid Irritants: Identify and avoid any potential irritants or allergens that may be causing your symptoms. This includes harsh soaps, lotions, or fabrics that may rub against the skin.
- Keep the Area Clean and Dry: Maintain good hygiene by washing the affected areas gently with mild soap and water. Pat the skin dry instead of rubbing it.
- Moisturize: If your skin feels dry or irritated, applying a fragrance-free moisturizer can help soothe the skin.
- Avoid Scratching: If the spots are itchy, try to avoid scratching, as this can lead to further irritation or infection.
- Cool Compresses: Applying a cool, damp cloth to the affected areas can help reduce inflammation and soothe itching.
In conclusion, while there are several potential causes for the red spots on your inner thigh and shin, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Your health and well-being should always be a priority, and timely medical advice can help address any underlying issues effectively.
